I don't have children but I do have 2 nieces,

Why do they do it ?

I looks so wrong to me, Most children love dressing up but I think the parents take it to far,

Let the children be children FFS

I have a nephew Lewis and he looks quite smart in his clobber to be fair..he's 6.

I take him to PetsAtHome and tell him it's the zoo.

I'm his favorite uncle.

What do you mean by bringing up? I don't like seeing certain adult styles on kids but mostly children are children whatever you put on them .

i think its disgusting. hate seeing babies with pierced ears, just wrong!! toddlers with nail varnish, kids in make up. how about we just teach kids to love the skin they are in not that they need to modify themselves to impress others.

Kids should be allowed to get messy and be comfortable most of the time. How can you do that with gear that needs its own insurance?

Dressing up for the odd occasions is great but even then I don't really subscribe to the "let them look like small sexy adults" school of thought.

nope my 3 yr old has princess dresses, tiaras, magik wands, and a purse and handbag, the heeled jelly shoes that came as part of the sets went straight in the bin.

so did the invite she got to a princess pamper party to have nails and make up done. wtf?? not a chance!!

I don't see anything wrong with kids having fun and dressing up, most little girls will wear mums cloths and shoes etc I don't really see anything wrong with a little nail varnish and lip gloss in the house but some mothers take it to far, they are obsessed with their kids looks

I really dislike seeing children (particularly girls) in adults clothing. I also dislike seeing teenage girls in such clothes. Just encouraging the wrong'uns in my opinion.

I remember when I was 13 I had a friend who looked older (as did i) who wore very short skirts and very short shorts.

One man once propositioned her with "do you want to make some money?" to which she naively replied "My mum won't let me have a job yet."

He was unperturbed.

My niece is 4 and loves having 'pretty nails'. She insists on doing them herself which gets a bit messy

When I was a kid I loved playing with my mum's make up (not sure she loved me doing it as she has expensive make up tastes lol) but these days I wear very minimal make up. It's just part of growing up.

I do agree with the pierced ears thing and also dressing children in adult looking clothing (except little boys in suits cos they look cute lol. I was horrified to see a children's clothing range in Natalie called hooch!!

I think the main difference is kids who want to do it for fun and parents who push it on their kids

I personally see nothing wrong with a child doing her own nails pretty, I wouldnt let them go to school etc with glittery nails but at home as a game that's fine

But some mum are obsessed and the choice is not the kids, nails and make up should not be a daily routine for children

how sad that her friend couldnt have a normal childs party.

I will not have my child tarted up to someone elses imitation of beauty.

she is gorgeous anyway, iv seen the pics, (which the mum plastered all over facebook without asking the other parents) it was nothing like kids playing with make up, they had a professional make up artist and a nail tech,it was just grim.

I started experimental dressing up when I was 3 or 4, but this bling stuff is nasty.

The series starts tomorrow at 9pm, according to the trailer. Let kids play, explore etc, not straight jacket them into forced premature adult life.

There are some parents who see dressing kids up as good parenting with little else considered. I'm not talking about letting kids dress up for a bit of fun.

One young woman I knew thought she was a good parent because her son only wore baby Gap. She lost custody of him by the age of 10. At the age of 2 he couldn't even say simple words because she only ever shoved him in front of a dvd. He ended up with speech therapy to help him talk. He didn't have a learning disability. She just never talked to him. So he didn't learn language.

Still his 'designer' clothes made up for it, eh?

My girl is 14 now and still likes to dress comfortably most of the time and does subtle make up. Her friend is the complete opposite. Looks 17 always plastered with makeup and jewellery. Trying too hard to be a grown up, makes me sad

My mother entered me into beauty pageants when I was a child. I was dressed in pretty dresses with lace underskirt and ribbons. All I remember of it was walking out onto a stage and looking for my mum, who was always in the front and waving, and being happy when I saw her.

I was never dressed in jeans or dungarees etc, I was certainly no tomboy. I was always dressed prettily. It's stayed with me really because I don't like anything remotely masculine now, I'm not a jeans and trainers type. I have always preferred dresses and skirts and I like feminine clothes and girly things.

Whilst my mother has obviously influenced me, I have never felt remotely interested in sport, climbing trees, rough child's play etc. I don't feel I've missed out. I am definitely a girly girl.

I don't like sexualising children, bras and crop tops on 3 year old etc, and I don't like kids having fake tans, but if the kids enjoy dressing up and they are not forced to do something they dislike, then I don't see too much of a problem with it.
