Blister advice

Yesterday I was making sweets and got splashed by some molten sugar. I treated the burn with ice immediately so it's not particularly painful but I have got a small (1cm x 1/2 cm) blister come up.

So, to pop or not to pop? It's on the side of my hand and I've knocked it a couple of times. If I did pop it I'd do it with a sterile needle and dress it, but should I just leave it?

Definitely pop it and leave it undressed.

I mean with no dressing in, not leave it alone and in the nude!!

Pop it then dip your hand in salty water. . .The hand WITH the blister, not the other one!

Don't pop it... if you keep knocking it put a plaster over the top

I normally pop them, peel the affected skin off and cover the raw area with a diprobase cream - I had new shoes recently, last Friday (8th), huge blister near my heel/ankle, very painful, today small mark where it used to be and was painless after 24hour hours.

Don't pop it.

The water in the blister is there to protect the skin underneath. Don't pop it,it will burst or dry up on it's own. Keep a tissue handy in case it pops. I cover mine if they pop to avoid infection.

I've put some topical anaesthetic and antibiotic ointment on it and I'm off to take an afternoon nap. I'll decide what to do (or postpone again) later.

"Pee on it."

Is that based on medical knowledge or just a male instinct to claim everything in a canine stylee?

Whatever you decide to do, pop or not, do not peel the skin off. It never ends well. I have a small scar on the top of my right boob from a blob of molten cheese that fell out of a microwave cannelloni for that very reason. Ouch!

I just let them pop of their own accord then forget about 'em. My hand/foot hasn't dropped off yet

If you pop it make sure you dress it. You don't want it to get infected. Use antiseptic as well to ensure the wound is clean.
