I genuinely think that "society" has a lot to answer for.

I class myself as a swinger because a) I really enjoy sex; and b) I don't believe in monogamy.

Those, to me, are the 2 fundamental tenets of swinging - if someone doesn't believe in both of them, then they won't become a swinger... bear in mind this is according to Carambar's definition of swinging. Your mileage may vary.

Outside of this website and an extremely small number of friends, nobody else knows that I am a swinger. My family, vanilla friends and work colleagues are all blissfully unaware. However, I've lost count of the number of times my non-swinging friends and colleagues have commented on a member of the opposite sex whom they're not married to but would love to get to know intimately.

From this, I surmise that these people meet both of my criteria for being potential swingers... they enjoy sex and they'd really like to fuck someone other than their partner or spouse.

Society, however, says that's bad and that when you stated your wedding vows, you were signing-up to being monogamous for the rest of your life. For this reason, almost everyone

else shuns the idea of swinging - although they may find their feelings take over and they end up shagging their secretary or the plumber (delete as applicable) - because they don't want to go against what society says is good behaviour.

I also think that when it comes to sexuality religion still has a massive amount of input on what society deems is acceptable behaviour. This isn't the case with other areas of modern day life, e.g. shopping at Asda on a Sunday is now deemed acceptable for most of us, and so is drinking, swearing, etc... which used to be taboo. I'm hopeful that in time "society" will listen less to "religion" about sexuality too, and at that point I would love to see swingers able to talk about their pastime in the same way that binge drinkers can talk about how they got rat-arsed on the weekend without having to be embarrassed or ashamed.

We can't imagine not having our liberated,open outlook on life.

When we see the amount of hangups and insecurities that many of the vanilla people we know have we just can't understand how they stay together.

We're so happy and relieved to be the way we are.

Reckon there are more vanillas who wish they were into swinging than swingers that wish they weren't.
