"So it's a lovely afternoon here in Wales, and has remained dry enough over the last 24 hours (very unusual !) that I can get mucky in the garden I can now see my toes peeking through a shorn lawn, and the s don't know what's hit them Just putting up my trowel and dibber for half an hour and a quick beer ( its got carbs in it so I'm allowed ) So who else likes to get dirty out there ? " Moved into a house at the end of last year that had a garden covered in decorative stones and decking. So we found some raised beds with waterproof liners and have planted two vegetable beds with courgettes, carrots, parsnips, beetroot, radishes, more carrots and kale. Have all kinds of beans and peas growing up one wall from growbags as well as butternut squashes and gherkins. The other side of the garden has about 20 tomato plants in halved grow bags and we've got about 10 chilli plants in total as well. Oh, and the edible flowers, copious amounts of herbs and some strawberries in pots. :D We reckon that if we built some big raised beds we could go completely self sufficient in our little walled kitchen garden next year because we're vegetarians. But I don't think the landlord would be that pleased. | |||
