Spider Letters

It seems the twenty or so letters written by the Prince of Wales to government ministers (of the time) will be released today.

The Palace tried to get the publication of the letters stopped. If you or I were to write to a public official the correspondence becomes a public document under the Freedom of information Act.

Legal fees incurred by the Government in trying to stop the publication are estimated to be £300k. Is this one law for the Royals and one for the great unwashed?

Lets see whats in the letters which will be heavily redacted no doubt!

Titz Towers, North Notts

I doubt they will tell us anything that we didn't already know: Prince Charles is a bit of a wally, but not a totally bad sort.

Quite agree but my point is why should his correspondence be treated differently to yours on mine?

"Why 'spider'? "
His hand writing looks like a spider has crawled across the page, evidently!

They should print all the stuff about peadophile ministers...oh yeah it disappeared. Surprised the royals haven't used the same secrecy laws as the cover-ups.

They are not being treated differently , they are being published.

To highlight that a non elected future head of state was trying to influence government policy

They are now but the government wanted to suppress information that should be made available.

But they couldn't , so no one is being treated differently.

Agreed.

The issue is I believe why the future monarch is trying to influence government policy which is out side his constitutional role?
