Its an interesting belief system; often confused with Paganism in the minds of many Daily Mail readers.

Its not a organised religion, so there isn't an overarching doctrine or litany which dictates how one approaches it. It think its a very personal belief system or at least an agreed approach by a small groups.

It has a bad press; undeservedly so.

Very much agreed. I like to look at it like a life philosophy. But because it is reconized as a Religion in the US Military, I call it my religion.

No. Nor do I believe in Satan as a all power being. Satanism as practiced by the Satanic Church out of the Satanic Bible is the philosophy of not bowing down to anyone. Creating your own destiny. Your your own god. Anton LeVay (started the Satanic Church and Wrote the Satanic Bible) used Satan as a publicity stunt to show his opposition to the Catholic Church and it worked quite well.

See I was going to say something similar, but it got me thinking. I suppose the base belief in Christianity (rather than 'God' - because 'God' covers a multitude of religions) is if you're a Lucifiarian (and forgive me I haven't read the base text the OP speaks of).

The concept of 'Satan' as a powerful force or manifestation of free will etc. extends far beyond Christianity. For instance Set (or Sutekh) could be considered (as a manifestation of chaos) or Osiris as God of the Underworld.

Atheist satanists don't believe that. Just like christianity has many different sects so does satanism.

Religion is pretty boring to discuss i'm finding, might not come back in here later.

You're right of course, I'm 100% Atheist too. Although, I am a Theist Atheist, which means I believe the great god Athe will come forth from the heavens on judgement day to rid the world of all organised religions...

I have a family member who used to say black masses while he was in the Royal Navy. He was caught saying one while on board a ship and was subsequently kicked out of the navy after spending a brief period in prison. After a few spells in an institution he eventually sorted himself out.

Simple logic really, if you believe in Satan, you must believe in God, as Satan was an Angelic being (now fallen) that was created by God.

It was Lucifer that fell.

Name was changed to Satan when he was banished from heaven

Doesn't Satan mean 'to appose' in Hebrew? Which I believe is the reason why Christianity chose Satan as the name of the devil, as he apposed god? May be wrong though!

I have an understanding that Satanism has nothing to do with devil worship, but rather live a different style of life that that which society dictates, apposing it if you will, so by that logic then pretty much everyone on fab is a satanic as we are all very promiscuous

That may fall more in line with the religion of Alistair Crowley called Thelema, who wrote what was called "the book of the law". Thelema is more following what you want to do based on your own free will.

Anton Lavey was a Jewish man called Alfred or something and he was a member of the OTO. I listen to Freeman, Frater X, Michael Tsarion. Not a Satanist but the horn symbol wasn't made by James Dio but goes back to Melchizedek.

Not a Satanist - or anything else for that matter - but I do enjoy reading about different belief systems. Freaked me a bit, though, when I learnt that Gerald Gardner died on the very morning I was born (in the afternoon) - as long as he's not reincarnated in me I should be okay !

I bow to no one. Being in the military, I salute out of respect for the rank of the officer and I salute the flag of the country I put my life on the line for. Very different than bowing down.

I looked into it. It's basically all about treating people bad if they treat you bad, and treating people good if they treat you good.
