Help with an argument please.

Londoners- How much would you expect to pay typically for a Pint of lager in a central London Pub.

Cheers.

Normally £5:00 a pint!

I would expect anything from £4.50 to £10. Find a cheap little pub and get d*unk for £20 or go to the bar on top of somewhere or other where 4 drinks cost £60. I'm sure some places still have pint and a meal offers.

"Normally £5:00 a pint!"

About £4.50-£5.00 in a pub, more in a bar.

Depends if you are in wetherspoons or a designer bar

Average will be more than other parts of the country

Whilst we are on this I've always been interested to know, is the minimum wage higher in London? What's the typical hourly rate? So glad I'm not a southerner.

There is London weighting which goes on top of basic

A Ching = a fiver!

If you take your typical local pub in London where I am its £3.80 (for a Fosters or similar). Will easily go £4-£4.50 elsewhere.

£4-5 I think

london weighting is not compulsory...many many jobs dont pay it, or the so-called london living wage....as for beer, wetherspoons is your best best, other wise fiver or sometimes more...

A fiver. Some pubs you can pay that for a small bottle and we never go to anywhere particularly upmarket.

I pay similar prices for where i live so high prices aren't exclusive to the city.

In all bar one I paid £6 for 175ml Rose & £5 for a beer ~ more than the food!

"Whilst we are on this I've always been interested to know, is the minimum wage higher in London? What's the typical hourly rate? So glad I'm not a southerner. "

The minimum wage is the same across the country. There is also the non-compulsory living wage and the London living wage is higher than the living wage in other parts of the country.

London Weighting is added to salaries by some companies (often public sector or charities) to bring the wage up to the level to be able to buy the same as it would in other parts of the country.

Water can be more than the food at some places.

London drinking is hugely overpriced in the tourist areas, not so bad in the normal suburban pubs.

But one thing about London drinking I can't be doing with. They put ice in cider. Ice. In cider!?! WTF?

There are establishments in Soho that will charge upwards of £300 for a glass of champagne.

A Pavarotti = A tenner. (Tenor)

Brackets added to assist in translation, no offense, insult or slight intended.

Depends if it's a lager or an ale/ stout. Ale will be cheaper but less range in most chains of pubs and bars.

£3.50 and up for ales

Little or no change from a five pound note.

There was a whole thread on this kind of behaviour a fews days ago.

It's unacceptable. Salt and vinegar. HP brown sauce or Heinz tomato ketchup are also acceptable.

Good, or this could be perceived as a thread hijack and then the forum police would get all cross at us and make us stand in the corner and smack our hands with a ruler.......

A Pavarotti is a tenner.

£5 always used to be a lady (lady godiva)

£25 is a pony ( pony to the slaughter... a quarter of £100)

£500 is a monkey
