"I didn't see it, what channel was it on? I love a good debate. If you want to pay for sex and someone wants to be paid for it then that's fair enough. I do think certain people might consider how they approach people for sex. If they want servicing then go to someone who offers services. If they can't (or don't want to) pay for services then approach people with a different attitude, and remember it's likely they will want to get something out of the sex too and not be left feeling like a service provider. " BBC2 I think.... Look it up on victoriaderbyshire website can play it back on catch up tv...

"I never saw the show, but if someone wants to pay for sex, they have to find someone who is selling it! In my view, both are consenting to the deed - it's a business transaction! " yes I agree, trafficking/ forcing/ and coersing I thing overwhelmingly everyone is against... But to make it illegal, despite being a backward negative I feel is such a blinkered narrow view. Define a sexual act as we know this does not always intail penetration nor physical touching....

"I'm not sure how i feel about the people saying women should not have control of their own sexuality and how that contributes to young women being raped/abused..." Actually thinking about it, i'm disgusted at this comparison. I think the whole making sex illlegal, removing women from being allowed to make choices during sex, and the derogatisation of sex workers contributes to this.

"They sighted poverty, economic reasons for working in the sex trade.... Which for some alass is true and needs to be addressed. What about family breakdowns and abusive partners?? Some decide to takeke this avenue , to take it away may in some instances force workers back into partnerships for monies reasons,. WHICH being the very reason they preffered working as independently firstly rather than be in a partnership and unhappy." There is support out there for everyone in need, just sometimes it takes too long to come because so many need it. I'd rather do sex work for money than be homeless any day, no matter what the law says.

"From program can only deduce that sex can only be the preserve of those fortunate enough to be in a partnership..... Unless you are you are not peceived respectable enough to participate???" There's always been ways of keeping other people in check. Telling them their behaviour is wrong just because you don't approve or feel threatened by it. For example, women tend not to sleep with married guys because they don't wanna upset their partner or ruin what a couple has and they often know how it feels to be cheated on as it's upsetting, in the same way society doesn't approve because of sleeping with married men on the sly because if it became acceptable then it's a threat to their own marriage and security. And yes all of this attitude helps promote that a relationship, one on one, is respectable and should be done. I felt those wanting to make prostitution illegal had poor arguments for it, and tended to view those working in the industry as not being capable of making their own decisions. Which might be true in some cases but many others won't agree.
