"think its a fuckin disgrace that they are clamping down on pensioners and disabled payments yet they can find billions to sponsor the olympics "

most of the olympic money has actually come from the Lottery.... so all you have to do is stop buying tickets if you object...

yep.. I hope to go to some of the football, and I want to do at least one session at either the athletics or the basketball....

It's also true that the Olympics has been in planning for years, long before the World wide recession. You can't simply abandon the Olympics less than Two years away from the opening ceremony because there is a deficit.

no... not quite right... The most expensive tickets for the opening ceremony is £2012... the cheapest will actually be £20.12

Prices begin at £20 and there are special rates at more than 200 events for young people and those over 60. People aged 16 or under on 27 July 2012 will be their age in pounds for a ticket. Those who are 60 and over on 27 July 2012 will pay a flat fee of £16

hope that helps some of the confusion....

I know that we don't normally allow links...

but this one has the full pricing for all of the events...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/bsp/hi/pdfs/15_10_10_athletics.pdf

I really fancy going to some of the football, the basketball (the see the dream team) the athletics final (the last day) and the opening/closing ceremony

yep...i'm hoping to go to some of the events, namely boxing but hope to see some of the minor sports such as archery.

I'm looking forward to having such a worldwide sporting spectacle to attend in this country, and here's hoping we get the 2018 world cup too

yeah i'm going to see some events, just so i can say i attended the olympic games at some point in my life... who knows when another opportunity like that will arise again.

People can complain that we can fund billions into the olympics but have made major cutbacks everywhere else, but we won the chance to be host 5 years ago before the deficit, plus think how much money it will bring into the country...
