Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

People who retain a positive outlook in the face of the kind of adversity that would leave most of us bitter and twisted.

You know, Sharpy, it is quite funny... but we were thinking a while ago to change our profile names to Bitter and Twisted just as a joke but then thought that nobody would want to meet us with those names...

Peter Ustinov was amazing - left me in awe , too - very much liked on the European continent. Then again for different reasons, Oliver Reed was , too.

swindon

I saw this video on YouTube recently and thought that the guy is an inspiration.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9DilOIZMu4

It's 6 minutes long, and I'd urge people to watch it if they've not already done so.

I am also left in awe every time I see or hear about Dick and Rick Hoyt, also known as "Team Hoyt".

Their Wikipedia page describes them as follows:

"Team Hoyt is a father (Dick Hoyt, born June 1, 1940[1]) and son (Rick Hoyt, born January 10, 1962) team from Holland, Massachusetts who have competed together in various athletic endeavors, including marathons and triathlons. Rick has cerebral palsy and during competition Dick pulls Rick in a special boat as they swim, carries him in a special seat in the front of a bicycle, and pushes him in a special wheelchair as they run."

Their website is - www.teamhoyt.com

There is a video on their homepage which is definitely worth watching. I challenge anyone to watch it without it bringing a tear to your eyes.

London

Anybody who fought in the trenches in the first watt

The absolute horror those young men and women faced is beyond our comprehension

I think we look to that war like that because of the innocence and their youth..
