Just going through the SNP thugs thread there, posted a doosie...hehe. Do you consider yourself British, English, Irish, Scottish, Welsh, other? Personally Mrs Naughty goes with Scottish where as Mr Naughty tends to go with British......Is the greatest union ever to grace this Earth dead? Play nice .

Well this is a complex question.

My name is Scots my Dad is Scots born abroad my mum was Austrian and I was born British abroad. I hold two passports one British and the other for the country I was born in.

I am by my own choice Scotish and proud of it.

If Scotland brakes away I will apply for Scotish passport.

But having said that petty nationalism leaves us all the poorer.

As a family the UK is greater than the sum of its individual parts and we need to remember that.

Every time i go to Ireland...people think i'm English......in England i'm Irish.......so a bit of a no-mans land !! I'm sure a lot of foreigners get that when they go back home.

Mostly in GU24

My parents were both Scottish so I'm Scottish; my mother's family came over during the Norman conquest in 1066, my father's family were from NI when his great grandparents moved to Scotland durigg the potato famines in the 1800s.

I've never lived in Scotland and in fact was born in Africa so I consider myself Scottish or Kenyan depending on how I feel on the day.

On forms though I tick British because I'm definitely not English and really hate being accused of being English. I'm more Scottish than many scots.

1. Nationalism by the other countries.

2. I've worked overseas quite a bit and everybody always introduced me as English. They'd also introduce my Welsh, Irish and Scottish colleagues as English too

It makes me even more inclined to describe myself as British, if it helps piss extreme nationalists (of whatever nationality off) then so be it. Isn't the whole point of being British that most of us are a bit of a mix anyway? I don't particularly feel I identify as 'English' because I don't really feel much in common with the Jerusalem-singing, Morris dancing, village fete idyll that it tries to represent.

I think there are good reasons for people to feel proud of their nationality. I'm happy for somebody to be proud of being Welsh in the same way I'm happy to be both English and British.

It doesn't need to be divisive.

Council tax does exist. When/if the Scots get independence they'll realise they have to make the same difficult decisions as the rest of Britain, except they won't have a Westminster elite to blame. Suddenly it'll all be the fault of the Edinburgh elite, because people who are unhappy with their lot always find someone to blame.

As someone who doesn't consider themselves either Scottish or English, but who follwed the indyref very closely, I think there was as much hatred targeted at the Scots as there was from them.

If the media campaign against Scotland's independence hadn't been so vociferous then I think we would have seen a much calmer situation.

You can't poke a badger and not expect it to get angry.

Nothing wrong with wanting Independence, everything wrong with using it as a cover for anti-English hatred.

Been in Scotland 10 years rural and city. Never experienced any hatred.

It's been prevalent for years. There was always a resentment of so called Clan Chiefs (English born and educated) which continued through to 'white settlers' and beyond, using the proceeds of inflated south east England property priced to purchase second homes out of the reach of locals.

At least, as far as I know, we didn't adopt the Welsh hobby of torching their houses.

I love this topic - I'm British but only as it's the only option that best fits me.

I was born in Yorkshire, but my dad is half Norwegian and Swedish, and my mother is part Scottish and Welsh from her dad and part Greek and English from her mother. I'd love to Northern to be a valid option alongside English and Welsh, as honestly that's how I identify. :P

I feel bad about wanting to split the Union, but indyref made it clear that many Scots don't like us. Better off apart, who knows after a few yrs we may start respecting each other again.
