"I employ a cleaner and when renewing an insurance policy enquired about adding liability cover for the cleaner . This would have added £350 to the cost of the cover and the broker advised that they had never had such a request before . Do other members have cover when employing cleaners and how much did it cost ?. I have liability cover buy do not believe it covers casual workers but will read the small print when I receive the policy ." Surely if you wanted your cleaner covered then (s)he should supply it themselves. Unless your sending them into other peoples houses in which yes you should supply the cover. What training has the cleaner had because that may impact on the premium.

"I've recently started my own detailing business on the side. I have liability insurance which covers my customers but my accidental damage insurance is separate. Is that what you mean?" . No , I meant cover in case they for example they tripped over and tried to sue me .

No , I meant cover in case they for example they tripped over and tried to sue me . " That's what my liability covers me for, although that's in case a customer trips over a hose or something. Surely if the cleaner is your employee they're covered under your existing insurance.

"Also if showing possible tenants around then you may need public liability insurance in case they have and accident and try sue you " . The policies which I have all cover public liability insurance so that is covered, but I might need to check the small print . I was more concerned if the cleaner is covered as she is undertaking a paid service . Today's Sunday Times has a full page article on insurance and the impact of cleaners and carers . It only discusses the theft aspect which does not really bother me .

Funnily enough I'm just reading an article about this on the front page of the money section in today's Times. Also seems to affect care workers
