"Why are there so many single guys vs single girls on fab?"

Because women are not as lazy as men.

Woman want's sex, she has a long bath, removes all body hair below the neck and moisturises powders and otherwise cares for every square inch of her body, all the time working through the inventory of outfits coordinating everything from underwear to jewellery, then ages with makeup, eyelash curlers, hair products, then goes out and finds a man.

Man wants sex, he sprays on deodorant, sniffs his socks to check they are below WMD level, bungs on jeans and t-shirt and posts "fancy a fuck" on a website

Or maybe it's as simple as that the dynamics of dating are incredibly skewed on the favour of women in their youth. This swings back towards men later on in life.

Also coupled with males generally having a higher sex drive.

Men generally just need to try harder. Even Shags become celibate and not due to lack of good effort.

No generally, at any age. Generally being the key word of course. Obviously as testosterone production begins to wane, so does sex drive. Not to the same degree as some women going through the menopause though.

I have a night out on Saturday!

I don't have an issue where there's parity. So girls night out/boys night out - no problem. But when females are referred to as girls but males as men in the same sentence then that's irksome.

Then you find out your 25 yr old daughter is on fab - how do you feel now?

Men on fab are heroes, good lads, between relationships etc etc!

Women on fab are perceived as sluts, slags, slappers and lots of other things -- none positive!!

"Because women like to be called girls and boys like to be called men

Damn. I'm clearly not a woman then.

Me either apparently. These boobs say differently, but they must be wrong - a man says so!

So you have a 'woman's' night out on a Saturday then?

I have a night out on Saturday!

I don't have an issue where there's parity. So girls night out/boys night out - no problem. But when females are referred to as girls but males as men in the same sentence then that's irksome. "

"Why are there so many single guys vs single girls on fab?

Ok op! Put it this way! Let's say you have a 25 yr old son and a 25 yr old daughter! You find out your 25 yr old son is on fab - how do you feel?

Then you find out your 25 yr old daughter is on fab - how do you feel now?

Men on fab are heroes, good lads, between relationships etc etc!

Women on fab are perceived as sluts, slags, slappers and lots of other things -- none positive!!

Very true. Do you think that is the only reason though?

Do you think it is mainly men using those pejorative labels? Or other women?

Do you think women call promiscuous men heroes and good lads?

It's not the only reason - but I think it's a factor! Also whereas women talk/giggle about sex in general it tends to be non-specific! For that reason, perhaps, I'd never heard of fab until 14 months ago!

I think it's both men and women who judge women! To some people, once on here we are 'damaged goods'! Even many of the single guys here on fab wouldn't want a relationship with a woman on fab because he 'knows where she's been!' Hypocracy at its best!!

With the men - some women may not approve and it may even put some of them off - but some will not be put off and think they just need a 'good woman to settle down with' !

Double standards still rule - even in 2015! X

There will always be double standards in such an area though. As men and women ultimately _iew sex and relationships in different ways.

The issue is very complex, but nowhere near as simple as a societal derision of promiscuous women.

It is a simple result of interpersonal relationship dynamics between men and women. Men are the pursuers, and so when they are successful they are congratulated. Women are the ones that are chased, so when they give up too quickly, they are considered 'easy'.

It's not an ideal situation for men or women.

Tbh on why women got called girls rather than women is probably cause it's easier to type and it sounds better women sounds incredibly formal even compared to men.

When someone's referred to as a woman it always read a in a similar tone to when a man is called a "male"

Women getting called 'girls' is nothing to do with how long the word takes to type. It's to do with the idolisation of youth and the increasing pressure on women not to age ...to always be youthful and to be 'girls' so we reach the ridiculous situation where a 40 year old woman is called a 'girl'.

And the male need to patronise women. It's my opinion that men who call us "girls" can't handle women or the thought of real grown up functioning adult women with proper sexual needs.

I see what you mean though, there isn't a casual term I can think of for women that implies adult yet doesn't have derogatory tones.

Oh please You're doing people actually being subjected to censorship a bit of a disservice here.

If someone likes to be referred to as a girl then of course I'm not going to object to that. But lots of women don't, for very good reason - which seems as good a reason as any not to use it when you're referring to women and you don't know if it's what they like.

Referring to an individual woman as a girl, when you know she doesn't mind, is one thing but referring to all women, most of them strangers, as girls is not really appropriate.

It's not censorship of a language to expect people to use the words appropriately, and not refer to a whole group of people with a term some will find ridiculous and objectionable.

Ok put it this way how would you react if a male friend of yours introduced his new partner as hey this x my womanfriend.

It's just that woman doesn't really flow in many sentences so isn't used so becomes more and more formal and unusual.

Honestly when I've used girl I've never even thought about it as a youth age non adult thing it's just the generic term for women.

man is more of a generic term for men though cause it fits in easier.

For instance I can great someone with "alright man how's it going"

Yet "alright right woman how's it going" sounds ludicrous.

But "alright girl hows it goign" sounds overly familiar.

It's a gross oversimplification to look at the use of the word girl as infantalising it's often used by women to refer to each other too.

What's interesting is that you dislike lady ad you belive it I plies specific behaviour yet then happily use lad and bloke as not having any behavioural or age implication.

But lad would typically imply he's not yet a man.

And bloke implies a certain manly behaviour.

"Tbh on why women got called girls rather than women is probably cause it's easier to type and it sounds better women sounds incredibly formal even compared to men.

When someone's referred to as a woman it always read a in a similar tone to when a man is called a "male"

I've been derided before for saying I don't like to be referred to as a girl rather than a woman. I no longer expect men to understand why.

How about lady or anything other than woman? Cause like I said woman seems too formal.

I'm fine with lady. Or like someone has already said if it's girls AND boys, or lasses AND lads then it's not so bad because there's parity. But men and girls just jars.

I could point out that he in the actual post says guys and girls that it's likely he dint even notice he'd changed the wording for men ad they're more interchangeable.

This has been noted, and the title has been pointed out.

He also said guys (implication adult) and girls. Not boys and girls, which are the equivalents of each other."

only if you assume girls is implication of non adult which is unlikely.

I prefer woman, personally. Lady has other potential connotations relating to behaviour, (being ladylike).

If someone refers to men, (as in the title), how can pairing women with it be too formal?

I see what you mean though, there isn't a casual term I can think of for women that implies adult yet doesn't have derogatory tones.

Men can be blokes, guys, chaps etc. Women are ladies, girls, birds, chicks and a lot of other much worse names.

What's interesting is that you dislike lady ad you belive it I plies specific behaviour yet then happily use lad and bloke as not having any behavioural or age implication.

But lad would typically imply he's not yet a man.

And bloke implies a certain manly behaviour.

(Lad also implies behaviour these days see laddish etc)

So your guilty of the same thing your blaming men of

Lad, to me, is an adult male. I wouldn't call a child a lad. "Laddish" behaviour is adult behaviour, not the behaviour of children.

Behaving like a lady means something else entirely, and some see it as part of the oppression of women, (i.e. restricted in what they can do, expected to behave like a lady).

Girls means non-adult though, so it's a ridiculous term to use when referring to adult women.

As said previously, when there is balance, such as girls and boys or men and women, it's not a problem. Men and girls is just wrong. It does jar.

So laddish behaviour means schoolwork and playing conkers then? Er no. "Lads" go on 18-30 holidays, drink irresponsibly and try to get laid a lot.

There is no equivalent for the word girls.

Besides, no, I don't consider lad means child but I also don't usually use the word myself. When referring to men in my posts I usually use guys or blokes.

No but it is one of those things that doesn't really bother me, so don't feel the need to get my knickers in a twist about terminology used by others.

I've moved about the country, and I don't mind people using local terms of endearment to me, like 'flowerpot' from Yorkshire, 'Hun' from Scotland and many many others, unless of course it is being used deliberately to piss me off or to make a jibe, there are many others things to bother me than that, but that is of course just my opinion.

Also parents, mothers are referred to as "my old girl" fathers are referred to as "my old man" grandparents your Grandmother is your Nana and your grandfather is your Bampi.
