no matter

We have been chatting at work about this ..Do you name your cars. Do you think of them as male or female ?

Someone saw my car yesterday and referred to it as She . I have never thought of my car in that way. Beautiful tho it is I cannot think of it in gender terms.

What do you call your car ? (2nd thoughts , do u name your car );)

My first car was called Reggie. Or to give him his full title Reginald Rustbucket the First.

My current car is Lucius after the inventor of the cool toys used by Batman.

My first ever car was an old Saab 900.

I called it Sherman because it was built like a tank

I haven't named any subsequent cars though

No I don't tend to think of inanimate things as sensate or give them a gender. I have noticed that lots of people assume all cats are female and all dogs are male though.

Yep - my first one was Velouria on account of the first tune i played in it when i bought it, my last one was Henrietta just because. My current one is yet un-named but i'm toying with Ursula or Sue (in homage to her paintwork).

Only the ones I like. My first was an old style Mini Cooper called Jilly (Jilly Cooper) and my current is a wee Fiat500 called Dolly. In the middle were a plethora of uninspiring and un-named company cars!

A friend told me bikes are female because he doesnt ride a male.

..could it be that the gender of your car/bike/vehicle depends on the gender of the owner??

Out of the six i've owned, i've named 4 of them.

The first one I gave a name to was my second car and wasn't until after i'd had it about 9 months and was after I had repaired some accident damage. I'd had to replace a few panels, so it was somewhat multi-coloured - so I called it 'Joseph'

Didn't name the next one, but cars 4, 5 and 6 have all been named.

I named my Sierra 'Rupert' which I chose because the last part of the registration was 'RPU'

I named my Probe 'Amy', similarly because of the registration on the car when I got it - Ended with 'AME' - Although I then bought a select personal registration, which is now on my current car - which is called 'Phoenix' and it has this name because it is a Firebird.

Nah, I think it's lame. I don't give names to machines, they're inanimate objects. Nor do I refer to them as if they had a gender, they're just tools to do a job.

do you give names to your hoover, drill, washing machine etc?
