Female half here, I have a job interview tomorrow morning. Not had one in a long time and im pretty nervous. How has people dealt with nerves when going for an interview

They've given you an interview because you've met the criteria to do the job, or they see that potential, you now just have to prove it.

So be confident in your abilities and knock 'em dead.

Just got to the pub and get sloshed first?!?!?

Jokes aside, just don't look at it too seriously, remember the interviewer would have held interviews a lot of times and isn't expecting you to be amazingly on the ball because they know nerves can get the better of people.

Also turn up early and settle into your environment... Don't over think either.

Maybe en-route call a friend and talk about other things rather than the interview, somebody you can have a laugh with or somebody you need to plan something with.

yeah! go in smelling of spirits!

Really though, just try not to over think things...perhaps if it's a big company, you can google what they're typical interview consists of so you know what to expect...

If not, try and imagine what they're likely to ask and prepare a few answers and questions of your own...

nerves are generally because of the un known...try and make the un known....known.

I was the same.. worked for the same place for over 12 yr's. Think this was only my second ever interview.

Some ideas to help..

Have a few questions in mind.. They will always ask.

Try not to be negative about anything.

Smile No one wants to employ a miserable sod

Be honest. There already interested otherwise you wouldn't be this far

Go onto the website and research the company, find something you can quote\drop into convo, shows you are keen and taking it seriously

Arrive 10min early, any earlier and the interviewers may not be ready for you but not going to leave you sat in reception for 20\30 min, cam make for an uncomfortable start

I have always taken the mindset that I have the job, its mine, the interview is to see if its a job I want to take, will make for a more confident less desperate approach which it helps a lot

Bach's rescue remedy was the only thing that worked for me because nerves made me talk too much.

The Garden of Eden in Beautiful North Wales

This some info I got from a friend on Fabguy's that has been both sides of the table, he is the Sales Manager of a huge Northern Chemical Company.... and I start next Tuesday. Granted I'm a man... well sometimes! But I'm sure you'll get the drift. Just be positive, the job is yours for the taking xx

If its office wear a suit and tie, no arguments please its essential. It shows respect and professionalism. A firm handshake with everyone and look them in the eye Don't fidget, keep you hand movements to a minimum. If there is more than one person there and someone asks you a question answer to all of them by making eye contact with all. Answer questions directly with the minimum of blabber. Be prepared. Check out their website and write down what you think is relevant to the position and learn as much as you can about the company (Use a clean tidy writing pad and take it with you) If you know the guys name who is going to interview you look him up on LinkedIn. It is very important that you research the company and gather as much info as possible. If I think of anything else I will let you know. Good luck xx Prepare 2 relevant questions to ask at the end, but never as about the salary at the first interview. If you get a second interview or the job there and then they will tell you.

The last thing you should ask about is overtime and holidays before you have even started lol. PPE and specialised equipment are good as you are showing the right sort of attitude. I don't know what sort of company they are, but show interest in the future and growth of the company and chances of career progression. This shows that you are looking at a long term future. Oh and don't smoke for a while before the interview and take some chewy or mints with you and have some before you go in.
