"I was using an eos 10d until recently - it's older than our kids but still took great photos. You can pick them up for about £50. I only upgraded because I do a lot of sports stuff and it could get a bit slow buffering when shooting lots. But as a cheap way of beginning with a DSLR the old models are worth a look. " I would say the opposite, a budget DSLR of today is far superior to the Pro models of yesteryear

"Yep, I do old school photography, I have a Canon eos300 film slr and a darkroom in my man-shed to develop my own B&W prints in. I like shooting landscapes and suchlike with it. I'm a massive Ansel Adams fan " I surely miss the silver halide days, if it wasn't for the lack of space, I'd be printing my own personal work. I still have my old darkroom cloths from the late 90's that still smell of fixer. -Mr.

"And what budget DSLR do you suggest for around £100 or less?" My hubby got a canon eos 350d. He got 18-75 mm and 75-300 mm lens and a few bits. We was told it was a bargain at £75

"Yes, currently studying for an advanced diploma in photography. It's just a hobby with me, I'd never consider myself good enough to do it even semi pro. I have an EOS 450 with the kit lens, a nifty fifty and a 200mm. Plus a Sony A5100 for taking on the bike everyday quick shots." I was hired to write part of one of them advanced diploma things, I wonder if you've studied what I wrote. :D Mind you, I didn't like to tell the company that hired me that I'd taught myself and never had a lesson in my life...

"I love it, but wish I could afford some lenses for my DSLR. I don't use it much these days because I'm lacking in equipment. " I use mostly old SLR ones - some I've bought for less than £5 plus an adapter for about £10. It means you have to use manual mode and focus manually etc. but I now prefer to do that anyway. There are some forums that suggest which 'retro lens' to look out for.
