"I asked my eldest (10) at the weekend what he wanted and he had no idea. I really like that - it doesn't help work out what to get him but it's refreshing. My youngest (5) is autistic and hasn't yet got the concept of 'events' as such - birthday and Christmas. He 'gets' cakes and presents but doesn't know why yet. Good luck with those mornings..." beware of wolves in sheeps clothing! i rememb er my nephew hitting that age and doing the "i don't need anything" line...then christmas eve....produces a list. done it every year since!

I won't get him clothes though - I remember always being gutted if the present was soft-normally socks or novelty tie crap " I have banne danyone buying my kids clothes, i consider them a necessity, not a gift. i saw a video once of a friends family members xmas that was exactly like that...the boy, who was four, got nothing but clothes and a selection box...their reason being he had plenty toys. his excitment waned with every gift and, bless him, he tried, you heard it with every "another pair of jeans". the parents weren't poor and brought each other really thoughtful presents. i wanted to slap them for killing that little boys christmas

"WnS, you're right - it would be much more enjoyable if there was not so much overkill. I worked in a toy store over Christmas in my college years (many moons ago) and some Christmas songs still give me a nervous tick now. I used to hear them over and over and..." .....here comes santa clause here comes santa claus right down santa claus lane.....

"Bugger of until the 24th of december " You`ll like A.N.Other site I use! The Admin lady has a word censor in place and if you type in "Christmas" it comes out as "Ickle Baby Jebus Birthday"! And yes, I have spelt it right! She does remove it for about a week either side of Christmas but other than that, Christmas is banned!

"Clothing may be a necessity, but quality clothing can be a greatly appreciated gift, by both child and parent." In that case, i shall expect mine from Wallis instead of Primark

"Clothing may be a necessity, but quality clothing can be a greatly appreciated gift, by both child and parent." I tend to try and buy my lads their clothes at the start of each season and then if I see a few nice bits which will really suit them I'll pick them up. On the other hand they don't get many toys/treats outside of b'day/Christmas so tend to steer clear of clothes for them. For me, I'm a really fussy git and will always try everything on before buying it so I'd rather buy my own. I always give explicit instructions not to get me clothing - no matter how much someone may think I'll like it (I know that sounds really bad). No doubt I'll miss out on some great clothes but I have a reasonable number of outfits that I'm really happy wearing and that suits me.
