"Please could someone explain if you practice safe sex.why have regular checks? Bit of a blonde moment for me.." It is not just you many here do not understand the risks. There is no such thing as safe sex only safer sex. Condoms give little protection against genital ulcer diseases and HPV infections as these are transmitted mainly through "skin-to-skin" contact from sores/ulcers or infected skin that looks normal. Condoms give some protection against STIs such as genital herpes, syphilis, and chancroid but only when the infected area or site of potential exposure is protected Condoms give best protection for discharge diseases (HIV, gonorrhea, chlamydia, and trichomonias) mainly transmitted by genital secretions, such as semen or vaginal fluids. The use of oil based lubricants reduces the effectiveness of condoms as it makes them liable to tear in use. It should also be noted that the use of N-9 spermicides can cause vaginal and rectal irritation which could increase the risk of getting HIV/AIDS from an infected partner.

"In fairness, OP asked if you practice safe sex why get tested? Well the only true 'safe sex' is abstinence, so is there a need to get tested? Now, if you practice 'safer sex', like many do on here....." thank you x

"Let me put it this way.. Does wearing a crash helmet guarantee you won't hurt yourself if you have an accident? Does wearing a seatbelt mean you wont crash your car? Does wearing steel toecap boots mean you can't damage other parts of your foot if you drop something on them? " point taken

I get check every 3 months and if offered accept the advice and condoms. TO DATE I have remained clear of any infection / diesease and hope to remain this way." thank you..x

"Ffs, and people say bareback players are a risk then you get a "safe" swinger asking this. Ignorance is bliss!!!well I sopose you have to be extra careful being married!! Not judging just saying." Id rather fuck a regular barebacker that gets checked plenty rather than someone who thinks they are safe as they use condoms. And with reference to your not judging, judge all you want, Yes im married, I have a profile with my husband and we play together, he has his own profile to play solo as do I.

" It's the condoms called Extra Safe and similar that have Nonynoxyl 9 on! They're the ones which trigger eczema internally in me and make me bleed! Btw a bit less of the grief for the OP people, she asked to be educated and that's happened. Surely better to feel ok to ask what may seem a silly question, especially on such an important issue, than to not ask out of fear of a backlash.

Not being a hardened swinger and maybe just a bit naive on some issues.

"Please could someone explain if you practice safe sex.why have regular checks? Bit of a blonde moment for me.." I dont get them done as regularly as I used to, as I am only meeting a regular buddy atm. But when I am meeting multiple people there are more safety concerns that bother me. Chlamydia & gonorrhoea can be harboured in the throat, so I used to get swabbed / bloods every 1/4 or as a minimum every 6 months. Blow jobs are blow jobs and condoms aren't used with them - for my peace of mind it's only practical when a quick test and a course of treatment can sort out any infection to me.
