Scunthorpe

They were originally free, but then some companies started a service that involved you dialling an 0800 number to get low cost calls and bypassing your network..

P.O. Box DE1 0NQ

I'm on EE and 08 numbers used to be free anyway. When I upgraded last May, 03 was free but they would charge for 08.

Since I can't link the site

It's all part of the 'UK Calling' thing from OFCOM. Instead of 'Calls cost 20p per minute from a BT landline. Other landlines may vary and calls from mobiles may cost considerably more', it will now be a 'access charge' (what your phone company will charge per minute), plus a service charge, (what the company you are calling charges per minute).

So you're more or like will hear “Calls cost 20p per minute plus your phone company's access charge.”

I'm with virginmedia and all calls are free on my contract. £18 a month. I get unlimited (shitty connection) internet too.
