vitiligo and tattoos.

I have vitiligo and its making me quite self-conscious does anybody know if covering it with tattoos would work? Would the tattoo stay the same colour as my skin changed colour? Or would there be any other weird or wonderful consequences? Help please

I have vitilogo as can be seen in my profile photos. Its best to ask the tattoo artist and your GP. Try not to be concerned though. It need not pup people off because I do ok x

I wasn't too bothered by it to start with but now the patches are getting bigger and bigger and are really standing out against my tan which I think is making it seem worse to me all I can think about is trying to cover up as much of it as I can.

Your just end up covered in tattoos. Why don't you try a medical grade concealer? Dermacolor and dermablend are widely available and they even offer a tester kit to trial different shades. It also comes in a body concealer too. Just remember to powder after applying and I personally like to spray on some makeup water spray to really help it set. I use avene water spray. Google skeleton guy makeup cover to see how effective these are. They contain a much higher percentage of pigment than normal foundations and concealers and some can even be prescribed by your gp. Best to pick a female understanding gp though as if you visit a male one and ask about makeup you will be faced with a blank face!

I don't mind being covered in tattoos at all it was the only thing that I could think of to hide this. Hmmm I might just need a make up lesson its less drastic than the tattoo option lol

I've tattooed a couple of people with the same problem and they are more than happy with the result.

Tattoo ink is put in the skin under the layers of the dermis that tan, hence the advice about keeping them out of the sun. Go wish to a reputable tattoo artist for advice and if they are any good they will be more than willing to help you out

I have it too but most of the time I'm too pale for anyone to be able to see it.

I have to get a serious tan before it becomes noticeable.

I agree with those who've said talk to a reputable tattoo artist.

You do realise you could potentially be tattooing forever?

I have it too, and in some bloody strange places! It makes me a little self conscious,sometimes.. the day it appears on my face,if ,is the day I'll think about covering it up
