The land of grey peas and bacon

Do it for yourself not anyone else. Detox from alcohol is always good and your liver will thank you. I always stay away from the forums when d*unk as sometimes in the heat of the moment we post something that makes sense in our head but on paper it is a WTF moment and I've had a few of them over the years on here.

You need to give your body a rest from alcohol every so often.

Last year I stopped drinking from New year until May day , I felt great from the break , not that I drink a lot anyway , enjoy your dry spell , and look forwards to feeling good and a bit proud of yourself

OK sounds a bit harsh, or a stark warning, and didn't mean it to come across like that

But it is a reminder of the damage that too much alcohol can do to you.

I've known several people who've ended up at A&E after a "session"

a little bit of what you fancy does you good.

But excess .... You'll live to regret it

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Make yourself some nice soft drinks and have them ready in the fridge.

A jug of water with cucumber and mint, one with oranges and lemons, some elderflower cordial... Good luck.

I always have soda water and lime cordial in when I'm not drinking because it feels like something I'd have in a pub

I quit drinking 18yrs ago. It was one of the easiest and best decisions I've ever made.

I wish you the best of luck....

Your skin and hair will improve, your digestion will be better, you'll feel more perky, you'll sleep better and your whole system will be less sluggish.

And you'll be consuming a lot fewer calories!

It may take a little while for it all to get out of your system and you to feel the benefits but they'll be there.

See if you can last for a month. You'll break the cycle and begin to have a drink only when you really want one not just out of habit.

Good luck OP.

All of this BUT don't binge drink when you have your first drink after this detox as your body will struggle to cope.

I agree don't binge drink as it has much more of an impact on your liver than if you were to consume alcohol on a daily basis. I'm having a detox now and it will be hard work not to crack open the vodka on a Friday night but my body needs it and I want to shift a few pounds
