It's widely recognised that Bose is the best you can get. I have heard them demo'd in Comet and they do sound quite impressive, but bloody hell they are a bit pricey

Have any of you peeps got a decent equivalent? I'm looking for a rich bass sound, that doesn't distort as you increase the volume, but I'm not after disco like sound. I've only just had new windows and don't want to blow 'em out

don't know how much the Bose ones cost but the B&W Zeppelin cost about £400 and the quality is fantastic

Maidstone

BOSE are very overpriced for what they are, I don't rate them at all.

I personally think that you would be better off going for a B&W Zepplin, although I don't think they are available through Comet..

B&W make some fantastic speakers.

Might also be worth having a look to see if Monitor Audio still do an Ipod dock as their one in the past certainly wasn't bad for the money, and their speakers are also very good.

Hope that helps.........

Hi - are you looking for Hi-Fi, or just a simple docking system with its own speakers?

Generally, I think that Bose are considered a bit low in hi-fi terms, but as a basic system it will probably do the job.

But for the same money, you could get a good used hi-fi amp and speakers and plug in an ordinary ipod dock.

The Apple dock is pretty poor quality for what it costs - the best Hi-Fi dock (just the dock only!) is the Arcam R-Dock for around £150, or if you can still find one, the Marantz IS201 (not the crappy IS301!!!) for around £100. I use the IS201 and am just staggered at the genuine sound quality that it can pull out of a little ipod!

Do have a look at the whathifi web site and read their reviews for best advice..

Couldn't live without my ipod now - total sad addict!!!

Bose.. Overpriced

We have a zeppelin although we don't use it as a dock.. We use AirTunes...

Brilliant sound...

Although you may want to wait for the new docks which have airplay embedded. Ie wireless adapter inbuilt into the hifi which is comptable with iTunes 10 and negates the need for AirTunes and an iPod
