Sex Addiction ?

It's finally got to me ....

Just read another ' shit media ' article listing celebrity sex addicts.

Apparently some of these people have therapy for their 'addiction' ; Tiger Woods being cited.

I get confused? In modern Britain , just what DOES constitute sex addiction ?

Wanting it daily? hourly? Constantly ?

Isn't sex a natural act? A pleasant feeling ? Something you want to do again and again and as long as your drive needs feeding ?

Aren't we continuously told that individuals have varying drives and that the drives of an individual can vary from time to time and that drive is transient ?

So. I'm looking at all you successful sexuals with your long list of verifications and i'm wondering who to lobotomise first! There's one I'd like to castrate this afternoon - well at least decrease his drive a little

It's only an addiction when someone other than the person 'addicted' is pissed off about it. Basically.

Like any addiction I reckon it only becomes a concern when nothing else in your life matters and everything falls by the wayside in your attempts to feed the addiction, job, family, not including your partner in your quest for sexual world domination......

Who has said Tiger Woods has an addiction? his wife? his managers? is he only going because its seen to be the right thing to do and he wants to get on the right side of the media?

Michael Douglas did the same and I think it was one of his wives that made him go as he was having so many affairs and quite rightly it pissed her off

I always thing that if god hasn't wanted me to have sex he wouldn't have given me a cock.

How often do you have to have sex to be an addict??

My sex drive varies from nil to craving, just like most folks I would think.

If I have it regularly, like everyday for a time, I seem to "want" it everyday, but if I have to abstain, such as when I'm working away, then my drive wanes.

I agree with a few other posters here, that it's only deemed an addiction by partners who have been cheated on, or by the cheater searching for an excuse for their actions

There is a lot of stuff about addiction in gerenral terms and specifically on sex addiction. Addictive behaviour by definition has to have a (negative, destructive) impact on your life making you make choices which could for example wreck your home life, career, friendships.

A sex addict cannot be labelled as such by anybody other than himself in this context.

Hope that makes sense?

Being labeled a sex addict is nicer than becoming known as a lieing, cheating scumbag. Would love to know what the therapy consists of though, clock work orange sort of thing?

wonder if ya get loads of shags on day one of therapy, diminishing to zilch over the length of the course

If I could write the programme I'd enlist a gang of mingers that you had to shag and shag and shag until your cravings were satisfied. Bet there would be a lot of miraculous recoveries

Sex addict........ yet another cop-out from the USA to remove responsibility from an individual for their actions (blame the conidtion and not the person).... all because the cheating philanderer is famous and they need to put a positive spin on being a c*nt for the PR machine.

Therapy for both of the couple. Car battery attached to his gonads with the wife having the the switch. He would be cured and she would feel better.

Not heard of that one - sounds effective...and possibly permanent?

If you can take a break and not indulge for a while its not an addiction. If you can't WORRY!

Been thinking about this over a cappuccino: Sex addiction and cheating as a result of being addicted are two different things. Being a sex addict (there are genuine questionnaires on the net for people who are concerned) does not mean not taking responsibility for one's behaviour. A drug addict is still responsible for his action as is the alcoholic for his drinking. But thinking and worrying about whether one is or is not surely could be seen as a first step towards making a change anyway?

That just about sums it up. Anyone who loves can be a sex addict but most choose NOT to cheat on their partner to satisfy it.

We like it but wouldn't say we are addicted. Maybe celebs get that way because they can have almost everything else they desire.
