From Mumsnet.

"We're due to go to Spain in June with another family to a shared villa with a pool. Both families have 2 daughters, roughly aged 12 and 14. The other day my friend mentioned that she and her husband like to sunbathe and swim naked when on holiday. I'm sure my horrified face gave away my reaction to that comment! AIBU to ask that they wear swimsuits around the pool area?"

Well, ARE they being unreasonable? Does this sound like a prelude to an invite to swing?

Haha being naked doesn't have to mean sex.

YABU.

Not being unreasonable at all. It's bloody rude of the other family to think it's ok to be naked in front of the young girls.

Yes the kids are still minors and should be respected as so.

What you Adults get up to in private is your business but this is a case of not in front of the children.

Big difference between naturism and swinging....so unless they were swingers then I would guess no prelude to a swing invite. On the naturist side of things this should have been discussed before booking the holiday as it's not for everyone. If some of the people are uncomfortable with naturism then both families should cover up

Certainly shouldn't be too difficult to get the subject around to swinging.

Why on earth would it be an invite to swing?

I don't understand the link between swinging and nude sunbathing

I don't think it's unreasonable to ask them to keep covered up as a matter of courtesy

They should have explained they like to be naked in the sun before the holiday was booked

no matter

No it isnt unreasonable.. I would sunbathe and swim naked and no I dont see it as an invitation to swing.. naturism and swinging are not combined in my eyes anyway.

Not harm no.

But in my instance I know my daughter would be very uncomfortable if people were to get naked in an invioronent such as this. I would be a bit annoyed that the subject was brought up after the holiday was booked and I would certainly ask them to be respectful of our wish for them to cover up in front of my daughter.

Herts

Nude sunbathing and naturism are not automatic invites to sex.

Honestly, I'd be fine sunbathing naked around my own kids but would question anyone else doing so, and wouldn't expect it to automatically be accepted for me to do it around other people's children, as they don't know my intentions and could be trying to bring up their kids with different virtues and a different attitude

attitude.

It's just one of those things, I guess. - You never know if other people simply want to get an all-over tan/feel comfortable in their own skin or whether they're actually doing it for sexual kicks.

Nothing to do with swinging, but if being naked is an important part of their holiday, then then should have discussed it before booking the holiday.

You do realise you can be naked around children and young people and not be a paedophile?

FFS it's like the witch trials all over again.

Communication is the solution and acting like an adult.

Of course you can but in circumstances where's its been discussed and everyone is comfortable beforehand.

Do you have teenage children?

Mine would be mortified to see their parents friends swimming naked!

Yes and if they wanted to swim naked we wouldn't be holidaying with them....
