So whilst doing a lill' gardening yesterday, I noticed the top of my head could do with a little more protection.. Normally I'd pull on a beanie but at 42 , that feels like I'm under achieving.

So hats what do you wear, if you have a picture , even better,

I'd like to add I reside in Oxford ; you can get away with most things . Hot favourites at the moment; dear stalker or a bowler ..(yep really)

through the last autumn, winter and early spring I've become very attached to my grey herringbone t flat cap, but now I think I need a more summery version - something similar but in a lighter fabric, perhaps? Definitely not white, or anything too pale though or will I just end up looking like a cricket umpire!

How about a yellow helmet

My partner can wear any hat and it suits him. I have never yet found a hat that suits me. I particularly hate paper party hats. As soon as I put one on, I suddenly feel depressed. Must be something about enforced jollity. Or maybe I'm just a contrary madam.

well the helmet is purely for protective purposes - and I fully embrace the fact that I look a complete knob in it

Hmm comfort and lightness ... Not considered this. The hard rim...(leave it ) of a dress hat is not what I'm going to want in summer... Good point

oooo - just googled summer flat caps and found one in a nice pale grey cotton, but with Liberty floral print on the brim, just visible at the edges... think I might fancy one of those...

As a follically-challenged man, I have a variety of hats to protect against sun, rain and cold.

They also help to hide my ugly mug!

Yes, various pics up, unfortunately mrs ddc will probably distract you
