"70mph, as long as there's a barrier between the carriageway. Without a barrier it's not a dual carriageway." Four lane highway then, if we're traveling down the pedantic carriageway...

"Depends on the vehicle you have driving " Yea I didn't think I had to delve into that level of pedantry. Clearly in was wrong. Add in it is a normal car, with a standard license no vehicle based restrictions, no road works, no crashed cars, no overturned fish oil lorries, no speed bumps, no temporary speed limits, no small woodland critters having a picnic etc.

"70mph, as long as there's a barrier between the carriageway. Without a barrier it's not a dual carriageway. Four lane highway then, if we're traveling down the pedantic carriageway..." Nope a 4 lane Highway with no barrier in between is not a dual carriageway. A 2 lane highway with a barrier in between is. It's a common misconception. Wasn't trying to be pedantic matey.

"Just got this from gov.com A dual carriageway is a road which has a central reservation to separate the carriageways. Notice, no mention of a barrier " That's more accurate yes. Apologies for my use of the word barrier.

"I and half the people on my speed awareness course thought it was 60, so it was great that they made me and my fellow speeders aware that we could actually drive faster." How very irresponsible of them! They should be speedily sacked...

"So let's see normally about 50% of people get this wrong so without any googling or asking a friend What is the national speed limit on a dual carriageway? (With the national sign)" Standard psssinger car, 60 mph unless there is a barrier on the central reservation or the reservation is 12 feet or more in width at which point the limit is 70.(Or as posted, of course) Of course that is assuming the dual carrage way is outside a built up area. If not then if there are street lights then it is 30, if different then the alternative limit will be signex on entry and the on every other lampost, untill it returns to 30.
