Quit drinking....?

So Christmas day I quit smoking cold turkey (best decision I have made all year) and now I'm thinking about quit alcohol all together?

Have any of you got to that point where you think no more and quit? Can't imagine seeing certain friends without drinking lol..

I can feel a problem developing so thinki its best to nip it in bud now? Not yet a problem though however it does dominate my days off and makes me feel shit the next day (waste of day off). Also I drink until I'm shit faced on my own... Who does that!

Tips please!

Good luck, sorry no tips.

But exercising will certainly make you more aware of your health and well being.A trip to the gym instead of pub.

I stopped drinking last September when I decided i was going to get fit and lose weight. I had a couple xmas day and boxing day. Will have a few in a couple of weeks at a party. Save money. Not worth the calories. Much better for you.

I gave up drinking 2 years and five months ago. At first it was hard and I really missed it, but after a couple of months I really noticed a difference in myself and that spurred me on. Hardly think about it now even when around others who are drinking. However, I really can't stand d*unk people now. Even after a couple I find most people get on my tits

Yeah 20 years ago i quit and never wanted to drink again really, took me about a year to feel normal being sober but this was down to me being d*unk all the time before i gave up drinking. Spent many a year not drinking at all, but i have had the occasional birthday, christmas or new year d*unk.

Few years ago i wasn't coping and did start drinking all the time again and even smoking drugs, after a few weeks i realised i shouldn't really need to be off my head all the time and needed to sort myself out and managed it easy enough (with a few cravings that got less after a few weeks). Just having a few weeks off from my life helped a lot though.

Not sure what tips you need really, just be determined not to give into your cravings, if you do slip up don't beat yourself up about it because it can be hard to stop doing things you like doing.

I probably drink too much if I'm honest. I don't consider it a problem though.

I drink, get pissed, fall over, no problem at all.

We usually have wine with dinner but more and more often we found ourselves not only polishing off the first bottle but also opening a second. I would say we got through about 6 bottles a week between us. Not good.

We are having a dry month. 1 week in so far. Was tempted to buy a bottle of red to accompany our cheese and crackers tonight but decided against it. I thought it would be harder to go without than it has been but we are not really missing it. Good luck Op and well done on the no smoking too.

I'm the same, I probably drink no more than a pint or two a month and can't remember the last time I was actually d*unk... I could easily give up completely but don't see the point (for me).

I gave up drinking in my 20's, just got bored of it. I can't kick smoking though, I don't really want to.

All I can suggest is change your routine so your habits don't get triggered.

Ive read his book (just quitting smoking tho) nearly 5 months ago and still havent smoked.

I don't really drink. I will if I go out or have friends around but that's really rare those days. I'm not that bothered tbh.
