Can you remember when you first found the forums?

What did you think?

Did you post or just read and lurk for a while?

What were your first impressions of the forumites?

Thought it was a brutal, harsh place not for the feint hearted.

Still feel the same, however I just tend to do me own thing.

Take the piss, don't get worked up and ignore all the sycophantic nonsense.

Away with the fairies (Liverpool to you)

I lurked for ages.....I read them, liked them, giggled to myself but sometimes I worried when I saw them go bad - and they did.....then I plucked up the courage to say good morning on Tosh's thread and everyone was very welcoming. I still have a wobble every now and then when I see contentious threads being put up but I have learned to read the first few posts and decide if I want to contribute.....I love it on here but I am cautious

When I first joined I didn't even know the forums existed for months.

Then someone I met who was a poster (I didn't know she was a poster at the time) told me about it.

I clicked the tab one day to check it out and there was a funny as fuck thread running.

And I'm pretty sure Ryan was posting in it and I was giggling like fuck.

That was 2 years ago almost.

I didn't read them I just dived straight in with a post asking if there should be a swingers sign. Then I watched it quickly drop down the page But someone eventually posted on it and it got a good few after that.

I then decided to post in the Scotland forum and I got slated something terrible for asking whether I should get a boob job or not I quickly learned what you can and can't post on the forums.

But three years later I'm still on

I remember, although it wasn't very long ago that I discovered their joy.

Funny. Informative and helpful. Intimidating, I still feel that sometimes.

Argumentative, sometimes apparently just for the sake of an argument.

A little cliquey.

I think a lot of people forget they they were newbies at some point in time. I saw a thread the other day where people seemed to be moaning about "randoms" participating in the threads. We were all randoms at one point in time, I still feel like an outsider, but on the flipside I don't really know too many people yet so don't expect to feel any different for a while.

On the whole, I enjoy the forums. There's usually some sort of crazy going on, it's rarely dull.

What about you?

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I found them about 6 months after joining and read them for a week or so before diving in. I don't know why people are so scared of them - compared to some pagan forums and the forums on My Fitness Pal the forum users here are pussy cats.

I did disgrace myself at first by posting some ranty posts, but I always remember Miss Tress giving me some excellent advice with regards to meets and the rest (so they say) is history.

When I joined seven years ago they were brutal! Not being a shrinking violet I joined in, usually the only one to stick my head above the parapet.

I don't take the forums seriously, I tend to avoid the contentious threads as the ops are usually bored attention seekers.

I'd been on for ages and decided to click on forums and have a look....I remember seeing loads of those moany 'cant get a meet' threads......I remember thinking 'what the hell you all on about?.....idiots!'

so decided to start a thread about how wonderful a time I was having.....it seemed to go down well....even met one of my fave peeps off the back of it who messaged me regarding my peppa pig tattoo which was my avatar at the time..after that, I just dived in easy enough.....always thought the forumites were a pretty sound bunch...few mad buggers like but definately a melting pot of characters....

I got told that i shouldn't be on a swinging site if i didn't know that guys would remove condoms while you were having sex...I took their advice and left and haven't had safe sex since because i'm not capable.

Lots of lovely replies as well that were helpful and a few other people were also surprised that men do all sorts to remove condoms when fucking, so pretty much an all round experience from my first topic.

Was surprised to see how many control freaks were on the forums, telling people how their way is the only way. Nice to see it's not as bad as that any more.

I noticed a huge change when I changed my profile name a year ago, which hasn't put me off, as I'm still me and I'm still here

The forumities are full off lots of different characters some funny, straight talking, wise, knowledgeable, argumentative, nuts and attention seekers, its like the real world we would be boring if all had the same thoughts.

My 1st impression of the forums ~ fun, informative, scary, cliquey, argumentitive & downright brutal at times. Took me ages to contribute, I think it was Ryan that encouraged me to do so.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I found the fora just over three years ago reading the stories and fantasies section. Then I read the lounge and contacted a couple of people based on their comments.

About a month later I created this profile and lurked a bit. I was incensed by a comment on a race thread and decided to post. It was a hostile reception and I got a lot of hateful and abusive private messages. That sort of response made me dig my heels in and stay.

The Queen's Jubilee and the Olympic threads was when I felt there was a sense of community and fun to be had.

My OH set our account up, did our profile text, I put the pictures up. I then went straight for the forums as I enjoy discussion.

I posted a reply to a thread I was interested in straight away and it carried on from there.

I've never been afraid to voice my opinion and I found fairly quickly that some people who seemed to be on the forum a lot were quite confrontational towards me. I am not bothered about challenge so just carried on posting what I wanted, as I do today.

I did, at the start, get messages from people warning me against certain forum members, which I find quite silly really, it is only words on a computer screen and I don't get involved in private messaging to gossip.

I found them in an odd way. I had single guys blocked totally but one kept fabbing my pictures and I thought he looked too good to be true. I found the forums, noticed he was a regular poster and finally plucked up the courage to say hello when he posted on a face pic thread. We got chatting, met and I've been on here ever since. It was weird at first though, it felt like everyone knew each other and had this shared vocabulary and in-jokes and if I hadn't known an insider (so to speak) I'm not sure if I would have been too intimidated to stay.
