Unless your neighbour dragged the cat off the cAr roof and the cat dug his nails in but still unlikely imho

Your car insurance wont pay for his claim, your liability house inshurance might, tell him to prove it was your cat .

It seems unlikely a cat would want to, they generally scratch things which they can really get their claws into, like wooden fences or fabrics.

And I doubt just jumping on the car or similar would leave scratch marks. Sounds dodgy to me.

yes they can, cats will naturally get their claws out when jumping onto and off of things to give them grip. I have a wooden head board with scratches in it as my cat likes to use it as a jumping board onto my wardrobe.

Although i cant imagine they would be that bad that a touch of t cut wouldnt sort it out. Bit over the top to go through his insurance to be honest. though insurance only covered accidental damage?

Cat scratches are normally pretty light nothing a t-cut & wax wouldnt get out,

if they panic and slip it may be a bit deeper, i had a nice one on mine where cat slipped off bonnet nothing some g3 couldnt sort

True! Don't rub bird pooh if it's on your car just wash it off with a kettle of hot water, knackered my paintwork on a car in the past, harsh lesson learnt.

OP, personally I wouldn't entertain that but if I we're in their shoes I wouldn't mention this to you either as I know it's totally out of your control. How bad is it, can't T cutting sort that out? Seems a bit much to me and if I we're to considering to agree to that (which I wouldn't) I definitely would askfor proof. Comes down to can you live with your neighbours annoyance if they truly believe that your cat caused the damage and you aren't prepared to compromise cost wise as this would I'm guessing would be their mentality in the worst case scenario? Either way I do think they're being a tad unreasonable. Next thing you know you'll be getting billed for the flowers ruined by cat pee every year effectively subsidising their B&Q bill for ever and a day.

if its tried to jump on the roof and slipped, it may of caused a few marks, but as said above nothing tcut and wax wont sort, no way he can claim against you tho, dogs are a legal posession, cats are not.x

It's the other side of the coin of you not being prosecuted for your cat pooing everywhere.

Owners aren't responsible for their cats.
