Depends.

Emotional can be pretty bad. I.e a broken heart.

Having experienced long periods of severe physical pain I would say physical.

Funnily enough pain killers can deaden emotions, and anti-depressants work on physical pain.

Not sure, emotional pain goes eventually and lessens over time. I had a split pelvis and the pain from that was unbearable eventually and seemed to get worse the longer i had it and i made more of a fuss about it than any emotional pain i've had.
