Well done , you must be pleased. I remember being really nervous at the time - that seems a lifetime ago now.

Some won't get their first choice today - but generally children will thrive wherever they're schooled if they have a thirst for learning.

And parents who want to encourage them, that's one of the biggest factors.

Congratualations OP, can imagine it must have been nerve wracking waiting.

manchester & NI

I worked in schools admissions at a local authority whilst I was at uni and it was terrible.

Having to go to appeals or dealing with irate parents was so draining.

I hope you all get places at your chosen schools.

I've had several kids go through this. With Secondary schools its definitely attitude that counts. Some of mine didnt pass the selection process up here in Trafford but have thrived, as has another that did pass. She says there are many bright kids at her school that act like idiots and are wasting their chance. So I'm relaxed about it now.

Giving them the tools and encouragement to do well counts for alot. Good luck to those waiting.

Don't want to worry any of you but at my youngests nursery (attached to the school) all bar three went up to reception, the cut off on distance was 100 metres so one poor sod had to say goodbye to all the kids he'd known for 2 years and go to a school 2 miles away

Thats good news, its such an important decision and is a very stressful time. We've been through this three times now and had to move two because their schools were failing them. It all worked out for the best and they are progressing really well now.

Mine got her first choice too. I'm so glad both of my children will be at school together until they go to high school.

Now all you need to worry about is the playground mummy mafia and getting stung £17 for a school photo...and you know you'll buy it seeing as it's their first.

Already had the photo thing as she's in childcare as it is
