I remember as a kid my mam was making

Sunday roast and all the rings on the hob were in use so she asked me to put a tin of peas in the oven alongside the roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings to warm them up .I did this and helping my mam plate the dinners when the oven exploded like a bomb !!! oven parts landed in 3 different rooms ...she had thought I would have taken the lid off !

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

Making parsley sauce from scratch with my Mum, we stirred it with a plastic spatula, then served it up. Found out it was not a heat proof spatula as we were picking bits of it out of our cod in parsley sauce.

Never had a disaster as such ..but son was making himself a meal ..something he had to do for cubs i think..lets say over half a tin of spaghetti hoops into a sandwich maker .. took forever to scrub the baked oozed tommy juice out of the coiled spring at the back ...good news is hes a brilliant cook now

near the sounds of the wimborne quarter jack!

Wanted to clean a small stainless steel flask that had milk in it. Filled it with boiling water and dropped a couple of Mum`s Steradent tablets in before screwing the stopper on tight. Next thing I knew was the was a bang, the kitchen window went opaque and I was covered in water! What happened was the fizzing of the tablets in the hot water made so much pressure in the flask it forced the screw threaded stopper out of the flask (the bang) and blew all of the water over the window, the rest of the kitchen and me!

I remember my mum going out and leaving a chicken in the oven to roast. she had wrapped the foil round the edge of the tin and when the juices dripped off it they started a fire in the bottom of the oven. Just as I was panicking she came home and opened the oven door. It had a glass interior door which went bang and melted into the lino on the floor. Luckily no one was hurt and she got a new cooker and flooring out of it!

my mam called the insurance as a structural wall was damaged ...the oven had completely blew up and the ground structure beneath the kitchen was at best questionable ...the underwriter who came out to see us nearly flattened my mam with his response when she said what had happened as he said it was a common occurace ...disasters happen when people are stood in front of the oven when it explodes as it blows your legs off ...thank fuck I was putting the roast potatoes out that day !

I once set myself on fire cooking steak in a dressing gown that was too big for me...the sleeve must have dipped in the flame and the whole thing went whoosh up in flames. Had to rip it off and smother it out on the floor

A cousin of mine lived with grandma.

He went home d*unk and decided he would make chips.

Chip pan on the hob, chips in . . . Then fell asleep on the couch.

Woke up All in darkness so just crawled to bed.

Luckily the electric meter had ran out and killed the heat on electric cooker.

Grandma got up early to find the kitchen and living room a write off, black soot through whole house.

Cousin asleep in his bed looking like Al Jolson!

She went ape shit

As kids we once exploded a brand new oven.

Admittedly we were trying to make explosives...

One of our daughter's had an obsession with the deep fat fryer !

We found her putting frozen sausage rolls in it and wondering why the fat was flying everywhere and also putting eggs (in their shells) in the fat to boil as she thought they'd cook quicker.

Thankfully she improved in the kitchen and hasn't killed our grandchildren yet!
