Day hotel booking

Have noticed a couple of websites allowing you to book hotel rooms (not airport hotels) through the day. And I'm talking about good hotels and some from large chains.

These rooms and rates don't appear on the main hotel website or booking site.

Have any of you used these?

Successful or not?

And what was the reaction of the staff checking you in at 9am instead of the afternoon?

I sometimes work nights away from home and this would half my costs.

Please PM me.

Cheers

Usually there is a charge for checking early before 2pm if it's a "normal" hotel booking, never done one thro a swingers site to see if the day rates are cheaper, usually when I check in and say I only need it for a couple of hours there is no reaction except to be told it's still the full price, guess they know if we want it for our playtime we will pay anyway and it must be a regular thing as I say the receptionist showed no surprise etc.

I've booked one - in central London, part of a chain. I was about £60 for 8 hours and we were there 10-6. There are specialist web sites now that arrange the day bookings eg dayuse-hotels.com. The hotel's main sites don't tend to mention this as an option.

The ibis chain do day rooms

They don't advertise but you can ring up and book

Normally 10 till 6

The one I use charge 40 quid

They don't have an issue with numbers either

I had 8 guys in my room

"Can prepay some Travelodge's for 12 noon check in.. £10 extra.."

Or check in the day before and pay for a late check-out in many hotels...

The sites I saw were found by just doing an Internet search for day use hotel rooms (and your city name) and you'll find them.

I was more interested in the reactions and attitudes of the staff.

Did anyone care?

Use Bill Guest next time.

I have booked and used day rooms and only once given the "name" of my guest. They knew it was made up and that was fine.

Professional staff don't show if it bothers them and my experience is that they genuinely don't care. It's a room booking and occupancy keeps the business going.

Do love that hotels have seen an opportunity and grabbed it.

"Do love that hotels have seen an opportunity and grabbed it."

I think it's always been there but it's just a bit more prevalent now and the internet helps.

A very naughty friend told me that he's been using day rooms for 30 years. In the old days he would go and ask for a room for a business meeting, either in advance or on the day, and tell reception to let him know when his colleagues arrived.
