Having taken my very elderly neighbour shopping this afternoon, we found ourselves in the alcohol aisle as she wanted some Ginger Wine.

I spent my time, whilst she was searching, discovering that the alcohol content of various spirits such as Tequila, vodka and gin has been reduced to 38%.

Don't worry, they're just as expensive, as before.

Certain brands are still 40% (London Gin for example). Or buy it when you're abroad.

I think it depends on the brand. Designer Rum, like Capt Morgan Spiced is a measly 35%. On the other hand the really nice dark demerrera's are still up at 40% - OVD being a particularly yummy brand.

Most traditional spirits are still 40% by volume.
