Sorry to post this, I'm due to have a coil fitted tomorrow, not just for contraceptive reasons but also for medical reasons, I like men to go ' deep' and love lots of foreplay does anyone else have one and does it effect anything to do with sex its potentially really putting me off having one!

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

A couple of men have mentioned that they felt the strings when fingering me, but no-one has ever been stabbed in the cock

the o my thing is you may not feel like sex first couple of days, I had like bad period pains, but to be honest I forget its there.

However, other people may have had different experiences

hubby could feel the strings when it was first inserted but since then I've met with much larger guys and none have mentioned being able to feel anything.

You can get the strings trimmed if they are catching on whoever you're playing with.

If they've been cut to a decent length in tbe first place that may only happen if he's particularly endowed and you're in a position that allows him to get particularly deep.

The strings soften after a while too, so if it is an issue to begin with occasionally it should improve.

As far as the coil itself, if you can feel it or feel any discomfort it's wrongly fitted and needs attention immediately.

Oh, and apart from feeling a bit period crampy for a short while (less than 2 days) after it didn't cause any pain.

One word of warning - when it's being fitted you may feel a little bit like a glove puppet! It's not very dignified and can be a bit uncomfortable but not painful.

Only problem I have is with spotting. I had it fitted as I was having a period every two weeks.

No problems with it otherwise. As previously said though you may experience cramps in first couple of days.

A medical point of view..... The actual coil is the other side of your cervix....don't care how big the guy is, he ain't going there when having sex so should never be a problem.

Not all coils have "strings" but even those that do these are soft and, again, should be no problem/discomfort etc.

I had mine fitted for

Medical reason, it was put in at hospital and I was given a general! No problems with it, occasionally spotting, but so far so good

Good luck x

I've had Mirenas for 14 years with no problems at all. If the strings "tickle" your man you can get them cut shorter. Otherwise, you won't know you've got it, unless, of course, your periods stop

Iv has mine for nearly 5 yrs best thing I ever did. (medical reason) It did hurt to have it fitted and a couple of days cramps but you soon get over that. Only one person has ever commented that he could feel it and that was only when I was on top.

Don't get your string cut too short, tis best for them to be twirled around themself rather than a short pokey bit

Just be aware that if you have a copper coil rather than a mirena it can cause a lot of problems with periods.

I had mine removed after my periods got very heavy, painful and started lasting upto 10 days

Mine just hot a little heavier for about 3 periods then settled back down again. The hormones in the mirena don't agree with me.

I had mine for two years. The longer it was in there, the worse my periods got. It got to the stage where I was taking time off work every month because of the pain and how heavy it was. It was a relief to get it taken out

I've had no issues with mine at all. Just some spotting at the beginning.

The only bad side I've heard is from a friend who had a cock piercing and it caught on his partner's coil threads. Pulled the coil completely out. He always removed his piercing after that !

Mrs S this thread just shows that there's a wide variety of experiences with coils. I'm sure it'll all be fine apart from a bit of discomfort and loss of dignity (it's tricky to be dignified in stirrups).

The important thing is to use the aftercare service if you feel you need it. Discomfort and some cramping is fine, pain or a temperature is not. And if Mr S encounters the threads go back to get them trimmed.

Above all DO NOT panic or stress about this, in the vast majority of cases it's routine with no problems.

My Merina is fine - no comments, other than the unpredictability of periods/spotting for the first 3/6 months

Hurts like a bitch when they are putting it in tho x

I took a painkiller before going to have it put in and I didn't actually find it uncomfortable. I will be having another Mirena when this gets to the end of it's lifespan. It's been the best form of contraception I've ever had.

Had a merina put in on Consultants decision for heavy and painful periods. Assured me at hospital it was the best thing since sliced bread and I would love it.

It caused bleeding for months, the worst pain I have ever felt, robbed me of my libido. Cysts on my ovaries, breast pain so bad I had to have strong painkillers on prescription.

So it wasnt the cure all miracle that the hospital assured me.

Had it taken out after several months and now I feel like I used to. I had forgotten how bright I used to feel.

For some it works, for others it doesnt. I think hospitals/Gp's should make sure every woman having one in knows every fact.

That's why I had a copper one. They put me on the mini pill for a while which is the same hormones and I was either angry or weeping for six weeks!

Some people have issues but they settle down in the first couple of months. I couldn't have continued to see if they settled down - I would have either been arrested or sectioned!

The copper coil has no hormones. There is a chance it can make your bleeds heavier but that wasn't my experience.

Getting the coil was the best thing for me, I had horrendous bleeding for a couple of years. No idea of the cause, but the coil has solved it.

Mr is vwe and he's not had an issue with the strings at all

Also, it was on a par with having a smear for me, so slight discomfort and that was it.

I occasionally have light spotting and sometimes a discharge instead of a period

Very similar to this.

I hated the thing! It made me soo ill, blinding headaches, exhaustion, joint and back pains. And as a contraceptive is was perfect, my libido was non existent even when I did have the energy.

Then I had problems getting it removed, my GP wouldn't do it, even though they put it in. I had to go to a family planning clinic and only when I told them I had googled how to remove it myself and I would, did they take the bloody thing out, but they weren't happy about it

Cricky very mixed reviews then!! After building myself up for it, it's been cancelled now! It's to treat hormone levels but I've also read that this can make them worse.... All this cause I've lost alot of weight!! Thank you for all your advice

What about a hormone free copper coil? Everything else has some level of hormones.

I've had my implant for 2 years almost now. Never had a problem with it. No periods for almost a year after insertion. And you can only feel it if you poke around looking for it. My daughter is on her second 3 yearly implant. Best invention for contraception. Taking it out they give you local anaesthetic and the incision is tiny, about the same width of your little finger nail if not smaller.

3 year implant was horrific. I was great and happy and wonderful then bam! Horrid. Never again.

The doctor who took it out was lovely and said all things like this can work so differently from one woman to the next it is often really trial and error! Look at how different people's experiences here have been.

I had mine fitted in November last year, as was having a period every two weeks. The doc said "oh you are at that age now," bitch! In the past I have tried the pill and injection and hated the side effects. Since having the coil it took 3 months for my body to adjust and for my periods to settle. Now I do not know how I managed without it. It is great in my opinion. Go for it. Can't feel the thread at all and the best thing, no period at for nearly 2 months.

I had a Mirina coil fitted after my son was born. Sorry to say, it was 11 months of hell. My ex whinged coz he could feel the threads and I had them cut short but he reckoned he could still feel them jabbing the end of his cock. (He is huge though). I had other issues though too; but on the plus side for you, I was one of the very few women who have problems with it. Get it fitted, try it out for a while and hopefully you'll be part of the 99% of women who have no problems at all.
