I'm just feeding the ducks in park..Sat here watching them...They are rather randy today...lots of males chasing females...sometimes 2 males, then I look up n there's a black crow hovering...its like some kind of duck swinging club lol

The biggest one in relation to its size and most complicated, also the female has the most complicated vagina this is to avoid being knocked up by a drake she doesn't want.

Drake this time of year only thinks about sex, and if they haven't a mate they'll rape someone else's, actually having a mate for a drake is very exhausting business as he's fighting off gangs of bachelor drakes.

Mallards are weird - the gender ration is about 7 males to each female. This is totally unlike any other species of duck. The lake near where I live is littered with dead females at this time of year - they've been gang-raped and have been drowned in the process. Last year a scientific paper was published describing how a male mallard was seen to copulate for over 30 minutes with another male - who happened to be dead. It was the first known incidence of homosexual necrophilia in ducks.

Drakes will frequently gang rape ducks, I saw some in the road last year on a country lane. About 8 drakes had a duck pinned and wouldn't even move for the car. I had to get out and chase them off to carry on.

I didn't fancy having to sit and wait and watch
