If you pass your test and send off your pass certificate, can you go and test drive a car or buy it before licence comes back?

Or do you keep pass certificate to buy then post it off.

Planning ahead, hopefully..

You don't need a license to buy a car.

As long as you've passed your test and the test centre has had time to submit your data to the DVLA (probably about 10 mins after you've passed) you're good to go.

I suspect that you might have problems getting insurance without documentation.

They will ask for id like passport and a utility bill or bank statement. You can buy a car on your provisional licence. But as above you will need to insure it to drive it away

A lot of garages give 24hour drive home insurance but you may have to pay for that being a newbie

Look at Hyundai they give insurance and 5 year warranty and very reasonable prices for a good car
