I had this tattoo done couple months ago, in memory of my late gf who passed nearly year ago now, it from the Everescence song My Immortal says “When i cried id wiipe away all ur tears, when u scream id fight away all ur fears, and i held ur hand thru all of these years, but u still have all of me“.

Wow, thats a beautiful lyric and a lovely tribute to her.

I know some people are completely against tattoos, but we both celebrate individuality and like them.

I only have 6 currently but have big plans for many more, and in July we are both getting a matching tattoo we have designed ourselves to mark our 10th wedding anniversary.

I love that something so small can have such powerful personal meaning, and I love talking to people with tattoos and listening to the stories behind them.

Juicy x

I trust the tattoo artist has better spelling than you.

Nice sentiment.

I think that's a lovely idea and will be a great lasting reminder of her for you. Personal ones that actually mean something are a great way of remembering someone spcial in your life. I have a full sleeve but my favourite one is the words Cape Diem on the inside of my left wrist. It's Latin for seize the day and is a reminder every time I put my watch on to make the most of my time here and not take life for granted. Got it done after my Mum passed away.

I only have one that has any deep and meaningful significance. The rest of them I just really liked the design and still do.

I have one that means something to my childhood 'yeah, but two little mice, what can you do?'

Means a lot to me and my cousins from a Disney film ... But to others I get that look 'I don't get you!'

You won't see it in the dark though, or is it a glow in the dark tattoo?

The angel on my arm was inspired by an ex.she was always "my angel" although we'd split long before I got the tattoo, I'd decided while i was with her that was what i wanted and eventually got it done. my back piece is a phoenix rising from the ashes with the words "that which destroyeth us not maketh us stronger" pretty obvious meaning but very true and personal to me.

Tattoo's are a very personal thing & should mean something to the person whose skin its on. I have 3. My first took me years to find & represents me as a mother of 3. My second i had done on a weekend away & is my chinese year of birth symbol. Finally an excellent tattoo artist incorporated my grandsons starsign into my mother & child tattoo to represent my special man

My OH also has several 'that he liked'. I prefer mine with meaning

I have a few about 11 all together. 3 I done myself which are quite big on my leg, mine and juicy best friend done half of juicys name and I done the other half and the rest have been done properly. They all have little story's attached to them and remind me of what was happening around the time they were done. Not because of what they look like just because of the different steps I've had in my life so far.

All of mine are deeply personal & have numerous meanings,

My first was a dragon on my shoulder, my 21st birthday present off my siblings as my nickname growing up was the lil dragon....

My second was my pentagram with vines with my kids birth dates around it,

My third is a phoenix rising to mark all I had overcome

My fourth is my ankle chain with lyrics from the Billie myers song "mother, daughter daughter, sister, lover" as that is what I am

& my latest is my ribbon angel on my waist/hip

Still want more & planning on getting lots more

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

Although mine was my design (as far as a star can be), the only significance is that i'd finally come up with a design I was willing to commit to for life.

I can retrospectively cane up with some bullshit explanation if it gets me lead though....

The one who started my work didnt do it properly i had to go back and have the h turned onto a b like it should have been. So unfortunatly iv lost confidence in them doing more detailed work than just a few letters

Had a guy show my wife his tattoo of his name done in Chinese characters, was not amused when she told him it meant mummy's boy to her, had to backtrack fast to say that was a Japanese reading of it and could well be his name in Chinese. In reality though it did mean mummy's boy.

Doesn't sound likely that someone who had a tattoo in Chinese would suggest it had a different meaning in Japanese since they're different languages.

Just had a word with the wife, she says long time ago the kanji had the same meaning but nowadays about 70% of the characters have different meanings now in chinese and japanese. Of course the words and pronunciation are completely different. However their is enough commonality for her to use it when talking to her fellow Chinese english language students to communicate.

eg the kanji for Mao-Tse-Tung is the same in Japanese and Chinese but the Japanese pronounce it Mow Tac toe

Its quite simple, because they like it? People who are heavily tattooed rarely have meanings for every single one of their tattoos. Theres a book for tattoo tattoo artists with generic designs for generic meanings - it was written as a joke but is actually very true

Not only this, but Chinese as in sure both you know- is a stylistic script.

with the passing of time, a slash may blur a bit, or the upstroke may not like quite so thin/thick.

Which can change the word.

Mummy's boy would be something lik

??????.

Dunno what your friend asked for?

Plus- mandarin or canton etc
