Original post:

I came across a profile today for a stunning and beautiful girl. On her profile it mentions that she has received a massive and overwhelming amount of messages within 30 minutes. Then there's an update saying she's recieved way too many over her 1st hour on fab.

I decided to click hotlist and try after a period of time to let the messages calm down but when I looked over my hotlist earlier she was gone. No trace of her profile. I'm guessing she was scared off by the attention.

Has anybody else seen this happen?

I wouldn't say that, the first few to contain more than three words were quite titillating.

I have a female friend who was on plenty of fish years ago..and she was on over a 1000 peoples favourite list (they don't have it anymore) and use to get 100s of messages a day..she left after a few weeks because she couldn't handle it

Well the "attention" didnt scare me off but it can be very overwhelming as a naive newbie. When i fist joined that way i got a total of 397 messages that day 127 of which came in the first half an hour while i was learning to upload a pic and when your new if you dont upgrade to be a site supporter you can only send 100 per day, so impossible to reply to all and keep on top of them daily, so as i said its overwhelming and can be intimidating

With the amount of messages she claimed to be getting i'm not sure advice would have gotten through to her.

The number of messages women can receive when they're new to the site, until things settle down and they work out how to use filters, can be overwhelming. It does scare women away sometimes. There are also a few that have stayed but came close to leaving for that reason in their first day or two.

I have long maintained that new members should opt in to receiving messages and that all filters should by default be switched on.

I suspect that many newbies are overwhelmed by the volume of messages and have no idea that message filters even exist

There is also the odd guy who will set up a profile as a fem and ask guys for images for their perverted ways...i've had one admit it to me before 'disapearing' so when i said sussed out that's what I meant.

Thank you though...for re-iterating the widely known fact that on Fab...womens be recieving millions of messages per hour! Lol yes...we know! Now you can get rid of the template honey

Guys seem unable to comprehend how so many messages can be overwhelming and, in some cases, intimidating. I've seen comments that nobody could possibly be scared away just by messages so there must be something fishy about anyone who leaves. Your comment sounded as though you were suggesting the same thing.

It's unlikely a man fishing for photos would put up statuses about getting too many messages.

I believe that even though men on here have heard before what it's like to be a new female site member, they still don't really 'get' it.

if the text ''Tip: Block non-verifieds, newbies and more at Message Filters'' (Which handily includes a clickable link to the filters) is too much for people to understand, then TBH they probably don't deserve to have an internet connection in the first place.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

My ex set up a couples profile and didn't tell me for the first few days. When we split and I created a single profile I almost left immediately as it was overwhelming getting so many messages.

I was lucky I had some friends from when I was in a couple (still friends now) who helped.

I don't remember seeing any tips when I joined, but things have changed a lot since I was first here. It took me about six months to discover filters.

Hmm should have included that tip is right at the top of the 'messages' section of the profile.

The other option is to join up a a single male for the first week, then change over.

Problem of countless messages solved at a stroke. Or is that with a stroke.

I found the forums when I created this profile and learnt a lot more than when I was just trying to figure it all out. I'd had one two single profiles before that and it wasn't until this one that I knew how to hide. It was all new to me back then.

That makes good sense to me.

Mind you, sometimes I see new people with incredibly hot photos of net models and a blurb describing how they want to fuck half the world. Half an hour later they are gone....
