Seriously questionable scheduling though,,,, a 16:00 KO the day before a bank holiday.....

Yeah.... like that's not a recipe for abuse.... is it !!!!

The pubs near the ground are packed already..... and the streets already bristling with herds of team-shirt wearing followers of both sides basking in the sun....

Newcastle

It's a good day out for the majority that go to enjoy it. The town being full is a good thing! There shouldn't be any reason not to have a late kick off because of the few that spoil it for others.

well technically horse punches is right... it was like something out of blazing saddles.... and when the metro reached sunderland they did celebrate it like east berlin being liberated....

it is a bit rich that coming from "ICI's finest" with no sense of humour... wonder if they will ban the smog suits again if they come up......

blame that one on sky.... the police use to control the kick offs which is why they were always 11am or midday

it could be carnaage later on... which is why i am avoiding town

Yean,,,,, I really hope the day passes off peacefully ,,,,,,,,

But I have my doubts....

I'm just a stones throw from the SoL...... at the moment there is much less of a police presence than I would normally have expected for such a game.....

Anyway,,,,, I hope is a good day for both sides and their supporters...

There were certainly the lions share of refereeing decisions went Sunderland's way imo - although Defoe's goal was different class.

For all the people who wanted Pards out of the Toon though, just goes to show, be careful what you wish for. Carver's beyond incompetant!

Shows you what a decent manager Pardew was becasue that is one of the worst teams I've seen at the SoL this season (apart from Sunderland themselves of course lol). Newcastle were awful.

Being there myself as always i can honestly say the toon were shite and gutless , the worst side i have witnessed in the derby,Sunlun won every tackle but were horrendous themselves, one goal won it and no one in the away end was expecting anything else....Mike Ashley has turned Newcastle into the joke club in the premier league

Pardew had relegation form for a season..lost 4 derbies on the trot, alienated the fans and spun the owners lies,he has the same effect at every club when he comes in but gets outed as he is soon found out ......

I agree about Sunderland. They can't score, no matter how many chances they make. It took a wonder goal to win, you don't get them every week unfortunately. Hence our position.

I can't remember a time where both NUFC and SAFC were so utterly shite at the same time as each other.

come on lets be a little bit fairer than that, sunderland were far from world beaters but credit where credits due apart once or twice, they literally kept newcastle in there own half for the whole 1st half, and if not for krul and a few blocks from defenders here and there could easily have been more than 1 up, then in the 2nd half only fletcher slipping over, larssons freekick going narrowly wide, arnholt deciding to shoot from an angle instead of squaring it, fletcher shooting over the bar from inside the box, and williamson been brave from close range in front of larsson kept the score at 1 nil, til the "74th" minute when newcastle managed there 1st shot, and the inevitable attempt to capitalise on sunderlands tiredness toward the end, and apart from 1 save from sunderlands keeper there no real chances of note and sunderland saw the game out, so yes newcastle were poor, and sunderland werent excellent, but they played alot better than newcastle created plenty, and it could so easily have been more than 1-0.

Thought that was more or less what i said....Only Dean would not give the blatant penalty to Newcastle first half and Perez blazed over the bar from 8 yards...but most mags are not surprised or overly disapointed as we live disapointment with every move our illustrious fat controller makes ,this debacle should be the end of Carver the buffoon but he is already defending those above that weakened a poor squad in January.....not a man of the people Carver just an unscrupulous wage thief....Sunderland were far superior on the day though

Disappointment lol, try going down with the lowest points record then beating that record going down a couple of seasons later with an even lower tally lol.

"p.s nappy rippers? not heard that one before... where does that come from?"

it was sometime around the 70s or 80s, Middlesbrough was renowned for housing peadophiles, it had the highest amount in the country, and as you no mud sticks, and local rivals never let you forget.

Alright, Carver is a buffoon but Mike ain't going to shell out for a decent manager, is he? And are there any? Do managers really turn a team around without money to spend?

Newcastle are just great at the occasional big unexpected win. And crap the rest of the time.

But at least they will stay up this season.
