Which manufacturer produces the best paint

I buy paint regularly and believe Dulux is slightly better quality than that of some other manufacturers or own brand paints . It may be more expensive but I believe coverage is better . It always seemed a bit pointless to pay a decorator and then try skimp on the cost of paint . What is your paint brand of choice.

The constant change in eu or bs laws /rules means paint is constantly changing in usage , appearance and finish and no one manufacturer can claim to be the best ,..

Valspar is a newish brand I've been using and the emulsion by far the easiest to use and covers immensely however there satin white finish for wood is terrible compared to dulux and ronseal primer/undercoat is amazing ..

All of these are water based x

It's only as good as the undercoat and then that's only as good as the prep work! Most pepole including cheap quotes of decorators skimp on this bit... Because it's the most time consuming

I've had the most consistently good results from dulux. Tried others regularly. Some fresh painting awaits.

Farrow and ball is very good.

Dulux is good, the diamond matt is excellent.

Most are probably made in same factory anyway.

. I had new doors fitted in one of my houses recently and the contrast between the newly painted doors and the frames really stood out . Both clouds were meant to be white . The frames noe look more like a light yellow .

I like Dulux which seems to go on easily and gives a lovely finish.

For painting doors and furniture I use Annie Sloan chalk paint which is so easy to use and looks gorgeous

I concur with this used this on my external doors what a excellent finish, good coverage and very easy to apply. Well worth the extra few quid

Suprised only been mentioned once but one of the oldest and still if not the best its in the top 2, but you cant go far wrong with crown paints, a company doesnt stay around for aslong as they have for nothing.

try the dulux liquid gloss never use the none drip gloss paint or the one coat paint there the ones that yellow quick

Crown gloss.

For emulsion we have been converted to Valspar. Fantastic stuff!

try water based it wont yellow oil based does especially if the substrate is in a dark room or gets no light

Gliddens is Dulux 'contractors' brand but in my experience Dulux and Crown will both give good results, trouble is nowadays most paints are not very good, the don't flow off the brush well because they have been made 'safe'

I would say avoid the budget brands like the plauge they save money on the pigment as that's the expensive bit of production so coverage is poor.

. I usually buy Dulux Trade . It may be a bit more expensive but hopefully slightly better quality . The true test is what the end result looks like in five years time , especially exterior paints where there is lots of sun.

I run a commercial interiors business and we spend about £20k a year on paint. We only use Dulux Trade paint which anyone can buy from Dulux Decorator Centres around the country. It's a bit more expensive but it's opacity is far superior to any other paint so it covers with less coats. That's means less paint used so overall it is cheaper. But don't buy the Dulux paint from the diy stores... its not the same as Dulux Trade paint cos it's watered down.

I concur.

My cousin works for Johnstones and they will mix up any colour (f&b included) and the paint is so easy to use, covers well and lasts incredibly well.

. Quite good value at £32 for five litres . Worth paying the extra for .
