Fish on Good Friday

Are you abstaining from meat today?? If so what are you going for? I don't eat enough fish, but I'm going out for lunch and think I will go for some grilled sole (rather than battered cod and chips), and have got everything ready for a Red Goan King Prawn curry tonight.

I'm not particularly religious, and maybe it is because it was a big tradition growing up, but I always avoid meat on Good Friday. My local fish and chip shop owner told me this week it is still his biggest day of the year by a country mile.

It's sort of our family film. When the arguments start as to what film to watch there's only two films we all can agree on. This one and Jaws.

Bank holidays don't effect either of us so don't pay any attention to them

And the Easter eggs come out a few weeks after Christmas so can't say they give it away

I suspect it is more to do with Jesus being a fisherman.

Yes always been tradition in my family to have hot cross buns this morning and no meat on Good Friday. I had Thai prawn fishcakes with chilli sauce and salad for lunch.

My Mum would never do washing today either.

I'm Tudor times you could eat beaver (stop sniggering at the back) and otter as they were seen as a fishy type thing.
