May be a stupid question, but what's the best way to book a room without arousing suspicion.

Do I give a false name and address?

Pay cash on day..

Please advise, thanks xx

All hotels understand discretion so just book and go...if you act dodgy they will likely think somethings up...

arousing who's suspicion? the hotel won't have any, they have more important things to worry about it. Sounds like you're worried about hiding it from someone else

Raise suspicion? What on earth are you planning!

Arouse the suspicion of who? The hotel probably know that goes on in their rooms..... At least The Soho hotel does - they sent up chocolate dipped strawberries as a gift, with a 'hope you're having a fabulous stay' card. Ahem. Or were you meaning without arousing the suspicion of another half? Don't you need to provide id when you check in somewhere? (Not in UK - sorry if this sounds daft).

Arouse suspicion?

Why, do you have "we are swingers" tattooed on your forehead?

False names? Who are you shagging.... James Bond?

Seriously, just do it online and pay by card, many hotel chains don't take cash at the desk, hotel staff don't give a monkeys what you get up to, unless you try to smuggle back a whole pub load!

The main problem you will have is getting your guests in, some hotels have security doors from the lobby etc which you need a room key for, so you will have to go down and meet them (outside... don't make it too obvious lol!).

Sheffield

Book through booking dot com and choose somewhere where you don't pay in advance you pay on arrival.

False names could cause more of an issue than just quietly using your own.

If you're avoiding the suspicion of another half, I'd say you have other things to worry about - not a fidelity judgement - I'm talking about having someone who scrutinises your credit cards bills... Cash payments are always possible - you can book over the phone by credit card but state you'll pay cash wen you check out - you card will be security, but never charged. I don't think a fake name is doable unless it's a really dodgy hotel. Get the other person to book it?

Ibis hotels are also shitholes that I wouldn't be seen dead in. .

OP...arouse suspicion? ...trust me..hotels have seen it all.

They have seen everything there is too see and more. Believe me.

Book in your own name, use your card to guarantee and pay cash on arrival.

If you're worried about the email confirmation being sent to a shared address set up a new hotmail one.

You'll be given a printed A4 size confirmation / receipt so don't take that home...!

Do you mean you are trying to book it, I am guessing, without it showing on your bank statement or similar?

Pay cash on the day - or ask the person you are meeting to pay it for you. If neither is an option, would a friend you trust book it and you give them the cash?

Like others have said, hotels have seen everything there is to see. I bet they see some right sights too at times!

This! And if you use a fairly big anonymous hotel chain believe me the reception staff could not give less a shit about what you're there for.

In that case, don't you have your own credit card (not a joint one?) I wouldn't pay for anything on any joint card and I've switched off paper statements too.

I work in a hotel and really we all know what goes on in some rooms, we are discrete and what goes on in a hotel stays in a hotel its more than our jobs worth to blab anywhere... We also accept cash payments but a refundable deposit is required
