Perhaps you should google the problem with the ones that first came out.

Basically a problem with the aerial that is in the casing surrounding the phone.

Am told it took a 25.00 case to sort the problem and no they didnt provide it.

Hopefully the newer ones are better - good luck.

I believe they have sorted the signal problem and apple are providing free cases to those who got the first few batch of phones

I got mine about 3 weeks ago, and tbh Ive had no problems with it at all. I love it! Get an app called Star Walk, it shows all the stars and constellations in the sky as you point it at them, very impressive! Also, if you have problems with the signal, its solved by putting it in a case, which Apple will send to you for free!

Not sure they've actually solved the problem with the signal issue as they're still providing free cases for the new models - I think its a hardware issue ie: the way the phone is actually constructed, with the positioning of the internal aerial, but they're still great phones and the screen resolution is a lot better than the iPhone 3. On a personal note, I think the iPhone 3 sits better in the hand with its curved edges, but you'll still have a load of fun with it! Enjoy.

I have the iPhone 4 and am using it right now to write on this forum it's a brilliant phone.

I heard there were suppose to be problems with the signal but I didn't have any problems with mine. Think it was just some phones that had the problem and then it all got blown out of proportion. Even though my phone didn't have a problem I still claimed my free cover saved me spending £25 so it was a good purchase, very good actually coz I also got it on a discounted contract

hi

i have the iphone 3 (for work) and the iphone 4 (pvt)

the iphone 4 is just such a massive improvement

battery life is longer

screen res is better

reverse cam is cool

face time is so great (use it to chat to the kids )

i have all my music apps on there (scales chords flash cards etc)

but my best app is voxie - its a dictatape that then turns the recording into text and emails it!!

i have them both on o2 contract but nothing really odd in my connections - i do keep it in a case though as it feels quite delicate compared to the iphone3

let us know how you get on!

I am in my second week of ownership of an iPhone 4 32gb, and to be honest I have had a couple of issues where it's dropped calls am hoping when the free case comes that solves it.

I also find the screen is a lot more sensetive than the 3 so when i am on a call it tends to do other things.

To the OP get your phone provider to throw in a free case because I believe the offer from Apple is only to the end of Sept.

I currently have the original iPhone (with silver back) and I still love it. It's jailbroken and has all the functionality that current iPhones have through hacks but is obviously starting to feel the pace of running all of that. I've held off from upgrading to the 3G's as they weren't sufficiently better than my 2G. But all that's changed with the 4G and I'm getting one as an xmas prezzie this year.

Anyone wanting to claim the free case better get a move on though as Apple are ending this offer today (30th) I believe.

Problem on the signal is when you short out 2 o the external ariels with your finger/thumb

The metal band around the outside forms 3 ariels if as you hold the phone you 'connect them' you loose signal strength. The gap between them on the bottom left corner is the biggest culprit. Watch your signal meter drop as you touch across the two lol

Still not resolved case stops you finger bridging the gap!

As a family I think we should keep up with tech, so i bought myself an iPod touch, my son an iphone, my daughter an iPad and i kinda felt sorry for the wife, so i bought her an iRon, and thats when it all kicked off.
