Cheeseville, Somerset

I have one for work.

Piece of shit. I've gone through several due to faults over the last few years.

That and my fingers/thumbs are too big for the keyboard.

Absolutely hate it.

Give me an iPhone any day.

I have a z30 and I can honestly say that it is the best phone that I have ever had. It does not change channels on my TV, nor will it download millions of useless Apps.

It does handle emails brilliantly, it has all the Apps that you really need, it is a big touch screen phone and the battery lasts for two days. I have tried and binned iPhone 4s and Samsung galaxy note mainly because of battery life issues.

For me a smartphone should do the most important things well and be reliable. Most of the current iPhone and Android features that are coming out seem to be a bit pointless really - especially illy when you have to re charge your battery by lunch time.

The passport seems a lot better than any apple phone I've used. Very user friendly even for a technophobe like me!

Blackberry is a bag of shite, had a 24month contract and I think its had to go bk and be changed about 5times. And am just about to send this oine bk,after a couple of months in bright sunlight the curser starts jumping all over that's been the problem on every phone they have sent us,also it keeps shutting down when you download things and when it plays bk films it keeps freezing, all these faults have happened on all 5\6phones

Anyone tried or own the new Blackberry Priv?

I'm really tempted to give it a go on my next upgrade. Early indications is that its a cracking phone with orders being delayed due to high demand.

Cant you just get an Android phone instead?

How about a Sony Xperia M4 Aqua?

I've had Android in the past and currently have an iPhone 6.

Giving the battering BB has had over the last few years I'm intrigued to see how the Priv compares against the likes of the iPhone and high end Androids.

Techie geeks have been giving it positive reviews and may be the start of the revival of BB in the phone market.

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

I've been using BlackBerry since 2008, just retired a 2 year old z10 for a z30.

I tried a Samsung galaxy before the z10, it was awful.

Read a load of reviews before getting the z30, I'm still satisfied that the current BB OS is the one for me.

I can use 128gb memory cards, USB chargers, drag and drop file transfer hdmi output, run just about any android app as is, maintain control of contacts and messages in a unified way, and the keyboard learns my typing style and predicts words in the very usable way.

However, it must be acknowledged that BB is slowly dying as a OS provider - the Priv is the start of their next stage of life as a provider of secure Android phones. I will re-review when this phone dies in about 2018.

The Priv IS an Android phone, with BlackBerry security and messaging capabilities overlaid.

I know its an Android; though its doubtless been heavily modified from stock by Blackberry.

It can still be a piss-poor Android implementation though - take Samsung Touchwiz or HTC Sense as good examples of a modified Android Rom that wasn't much cop because of all the extra bloatware.

Its also £560!

ArsTechnica have a good review of it.

Windows phones are incredible - very well made, high specifications and just really easy to use. They are worth far more than they're sold for, compared to other brands. And they're kept up to date, like home computers, unlike most Android phones, where the manufacturers often don't update them.

Very easy to synch with your PC too. I've not regretted my Lumia 635 for one moment, whilst having it this past year. EE have a smaller one on payg for £39.

I got a galaxy. The only thing blackberry is good for is BBM but now you get it free on all android phones and you don't need to pay £5 to use it like on blackberry x

I've got a Z10 - used to have a Storm with the sliding keyboard and also had classic ones for work.

If it's good enough for Obama then it's good enough for me!

The extra £5 disappeared 3 years ago when BB10 OS launched.

And I believe that the Android version of BBM requires payment for some features...that are free on Blackberry devices.

...you either don't us those features or I was wrong.

The point remains that it isn't £5 extra for BlackBerry anymore.

Used to love Blackberry's. Have tried most of the different makes of phones, loved all the Windows ones too.

Promised myself I'd never get onto the iPhone hype - but lo and behold - they're faultless, absolutely brilliant.

They actually live up to the hype. Total convert

I was the same re iPhone. Things changed when I bought an iPad and thought if that is faultless and works effortlessly then an iPhone must be the same so I got one.

Never looked back till I saw that BB announced the Priv. I'm going to test it out in a shop and decide if it's a game changer for me.
