Just saw the trailer for the new Bond film Spectre and sad to say that Daniel Craig is looking a little "past it" !

Who should be the next Bond ?

My choice is Idris Elba just for the record, I'm aware that he's a similar age to DC but just looks better

TV acting and film acting are different.

Elba in his film roles, he's quite poor.

TV, he's good.

On a tv show a poor actor might be told to sharpen up a bit because of the series contract. On a film they probably wouldn't tell an actor to be 'better' in case that particular person was fired as a result.

For all those who suggest this Idris chap should play Bond because he's black, and well it's about time, would you be happy if a white guy was cast as say Martin Luther King? Or indeed appropriate.

Nick Fury of the Avengers etc - white in comics black in films.

I feel like the UK gets its panties in a twist when you fuck with what they consider to be 'institutions'.

I can't wait until a significant member of the royal family marries a black person, and subsequently we end up with a mixed race king/queen.

Tom hardy is too predictable, too boring. And Idris Elba is hit and miss, good in that sort of role though. Jack O'Connell or Harry Lloyd would be great if they wanted younger. If they wanted to go with a debonair romancer rather than the "seasoned veteran" thing they're doing now then someone like Andrew Lincoln or Stephen Moyer would be fantastic, or Iain Glen actually, older but distinguished.

Daniel Craig was pushing the boundaries as Bond because he was blonde. They've had a female M so if they want to push the boundaries I don't see why Idris couldn't play Bond. He will certainly be better than Timothy Dalton.

Elba has no chance of being a new bond as he is to old the "new bond" has always been mid to early 30s to give him a chance to be in the role long enough. DC is contracted for the role through bond 25 spectre us the 24th. My vote for the next bond would be Michael Fasbender.

The only considerations when casting an actor for a role in as far as how they look should be what is important to portray that character. Did shaft need to be black? Yup, does bond need to be white? Not sure why. Of course any real life character needs to look right but even colour aside. Peter Dinklage portrays Bolivar Trask who wasn't a dwarf and that worked well.
