TV shows without their stars

Yes, yes, but this is inspired by the whole Top Gear thing...

Can anyone think of TV shows that were good after the main star/stars left, or that were just terrible?

Taggart survived for 17 years when

Mark McManus died in 94.

But then The Gadget Show hasn't been the same since Suzi Perry left.

Two And A Half Men springs to mind. After Charlie lost his mind, filled up with tiger blood and was shown the door it died a death.

It was a tragedy and whilst I missed Andy, Liam did a fantastic job in what I would imagine to be very difficult circumstances. One of the best things I have watched in years. I am not even sure Vikings can surpass.

Hello all,

for me, Have I Got News For You was never the same after Angus Deaton was removed.

Various Dr Who's have survived over the years, as have characters playing Rebus, Sherlock Holmes, Peter Wimsey etc.

Titz Towers, North Notts

Greetings - The recasting of Joey in Bread helped kill off the show. I seem to remember her looked like him, but couldn't act.

Jason Connery replacing Michael Praed in Robin of Sherwood worked well and produced some good stories. Although they did have a writer of genius doing the series.

Dr who, I don't watch it but friends tell me it is a quality programme with great actors replacing great actors to play the doctor.

In theory the original top gear was considered boring before Clarkson started.

It all depends on how the producers take a show forwards. Emmerdale for example was a boring farm programme new producers revamped and made modern and appealing. Now every other British soap steals there plots. The so called star is not important just a cog in the wheel.
