Has anybody ever had lip filler injections? Specifically Restylane? Would like to here some experiences before I take the plunge!

Ah thank you! I have a massive complex about my top lip though. It is so much smaller than my bottom, and points downwards, rather than outwards! So I thought why not do something to make myself happy

One thing I would say here (and I have no experience myself of fillers) is that I have spoken to people who have and the overwhelming consensus is that you should start it as late as possible as overall they start ageing people. At your age and with your lips I would really go easy - you do not need this treatment yet would be my advice. xx

You're 23

I think it's sad that you want to do something like that at such a young age when they look perfectly plump anyway

I don't think it should make anything sad, it is something that has got me down about my image from the age of 14, getting filler injected, if all went well, would make me feel so much happier with my image. It lasts between 6-12 months, so if it's not for me, I don't have to keep it up.

I would think about the long term effects starting these kind of proceedures in your early 20's might have when you're older.

If it's anything like Botox it can be addictive & bloody expensive to maintain.

Sorry that didn't answer your question!

"Is it worth risking the trout pout and all the sniggering behind your back?"

Most people I know would snigger to my face! If it looked hideous, I think I would laugh it off too - it's only 12 months. (Unless it got infected and my lips burst off of my face...)

One of my friends has had lip fillers and honestly she looks a bit weird if you see her without full makeup on. Naturally people's bottom lip tends to be fuller than their top (usually 1.5x) and I'm not sure what you mean about it curving downwards but I'm not sure if that's something fillers can actually correct?

Make sure you do your research carefully and choose somewhere that you feel you can trust, not necessarily the cheapest place; it's not permanent but even six months with something on my face I wasn't happy with would feel like forever!

Thank you for the advice! My bottom lip is probably 2-3 x bigger than my top! I just think it already looks absolutely ridiculous. But I will research some well reviewed places, and go for an in depth consultation before making any firm decisions!

From what I've seen on your profile your lips look good and don't look out of proportion. Everyone has their own hang ups and I totally get that but Id strongly advise against it.

you can do a lot with out having that like lip liner and some pluming lip gloss.

Please remember that most of these places are unregulated and their only interest is making money.

Your long term welfare is of no concern and I doubt very much they will give any advice, that may give you any concerns at all.

Their sole interest is taking your money, because that is the only reason, why they are in business.

I do use lip liner, and plumping lipgloss, but to be honest, it makes little difference to me .

I do agree the duck look is ridiculous, and I do not want a lot of filler, just literally a small amount to plump my top lip, to be more of an equal size to the bottom!

Good tip - add peppermint oil to lip gloss. It's the main ingredient they use in lip plumpers (I love the sexy mother pucker range from Soap and Glory as well though).

Start with a little bit at a time.

I know someone who got cheek fillers and she went full out and ended up looking like offspring of Pete Burns.

Consider getting a little bit then seeing how it looks once the swelling has gone down.

Personally I think your lips look lovely and I wouldnt dare try anything like that. I've always wanted the "Jolie pout" but I'd be way too scared that I'd end up like Leslie Ash

A friend recently reccommended something called "Fullips" to me (they are sucker things that you suck on) but even they bruised her lips and she had a ring of bruise around her mouth for days as she used it a little too much

'Fullips' is what I've ordered, I have watched a lot of videos of demonstrations, where no bruising has occurred, and I think a lot of people go in and use it too heavily the first time. It's only recommended to have it on for ten seconds, then remove, evaluate and reuse if necessary! I will let you know how I get on! Should be here Monday

Ah cool Yep that's what she did and wet it too.. bruising was terrible so it put me off getting them. I guess just as long as you're careful you should be fine.

My daft teen daughter tried the shot glass method a-la Geordie Shore, and got the piss totally taken out of her on her facebook which all being well has put her off doing anything to alter her lips again as it looked ridiculous and thankfully had no injuries as some others have suffered. Big lips unless naturally formed just look awful on anyone. Having yours done so young won't make you any happier and could make you feel so much worse if it goes wrong x

A cheaper and more temporary solution is to whack yourself in the mush with a frying pan.

Worked for me once whilst a flatmate was trying to hit a fly in the kitchen a few years back.

Lovely anecdote, but I do wonder how you seem to 'know' it won't make me any happier? A lot of people that have cosmetic surgery are very much happier as a result...

i think lip filler makes lips look too false, pouty and unnatural, yours look lovely but may still fill out naturally,if you still fill you need to go for it,do so,it is your choice, but once done,it cant always be undone.

Op.

At the end of the day it's your body and if you are that unhappy with your lips then do it.

However, what will be next coz sure as eggs are eggs, you will start fixating on another imaginary defect...

From the pictures you look like a beautiful young lady, who certainly doesn't need to change. Quirks in our appearance is what makes us individual and unique.

If your friends judge you on a slightly different size lip, then they are pretty shallow and new friends rather than lips are probably needed.

Women are far more fortunate than men in terms of being able to cover imperfections with make up.

Personally, not a fan of OTT make up etc.

But only you know what is going to make you happy and a bunch of strangers giving opinions based on a few carefully selected pic's is difficult to make a life changing decision on.

But whatever happens good luck and am sure that your parents will love you no matter what your lips look like. Xx

I'm 26, it's not about age.

I'm getting juvederm 3 fillers on Wednesday afternoon because I'd like plumper lips and I can afford fillers so it makes sense that I would buy what makes me happy. I have been told by a friend who got them last week that they don't hurt but you can buy numbing cream if you're worried. I don't think I'll bother I'm just gonna go for it...I'll report back!

I am not a fan of over the top lip makeup, I think it looks terrible. Hence the wanting fillers rather than attempting the lip liner to my nostrils look.

I agree with what you've said, once I start, I wouldn't stop. Next would be filling out my frown line, then a boob uplift, then a nose job... But I am fortunate enough to be terrified of actual surgery, so those will never happen!

Thank you for your advice! Xx

There's nothing wrong with your lips - they're supposed to be like that and they will only look worse if you start mucking about with them. The top lip is *supposed* to be thinner. You'll just end up looking like you've been punched recently.
