Which do you prefer?

I prefer books as they never require charging, their smell, their feel.

E-readers just seem soulless.

They're not as good as books, but when you can store hundreds of them and you can view them on your phone (and at the last page you read) when you don't happen to have your kindle with you, they're bloody useful.

It's been great taking the kindle on holiday and having the extra weight to take an extra pair of speedos and some fetish gear, happy days!

when going on holiday e-readers are great as they dont take up so much space in your luggage plus they dont melt without you knowing so your book falls apart at the poolside as happened to me one year in turkey

Books. I mostly read in the bath, and until they make a waterproof E-reader they're no good to me. I buy my books from charity shops then re-donate them.

Depends on the book. If it's all text then e-reader's are better, I think (especially with backlighting for reading in bed) but if there are any pics or illustrations (like maps) then it has to be a physical book.

books - my eldest likes his kindle but my daughter shares my love of books - she has just had a rather expensive edition of grimms fairy tales (her choice of gift) for her 21st birthday - shes studying literature and hopes to go on to teach it - says always books

They both have their pros and cons. Personally I still stick to books most of the time though I do have a few ebooks on kindle - kinda handy to have something to read on t' phone when out and about.

However, as part of a rather morbid conversation last weekend a wee query was raised. If you possess a reasonable book collection and at some point in time move onto an alternative form of existance, ones friends and family can easilly pick over your collection and select the ones they would like to keep. How the heck would that work with ebooks as they are normally associated with an account of some sort, which would automatically be closed in such an event?
