What?? How can you say hardly anyone plays the game? What do the Ireland players do after the 6 nations then, return to their day jobs, builders, accountants, chefs? Nooo they return to their professional clubs.

Hardly anyone plays the game yet you have enough people to represent the country internationally for the main team, the under 21's and a women's rugby team.

Sure, prior to the final round of matches in all the previous games played England had scored more tries than any other team and the majority of those had come in the last 30 minutes of the match.

That said, it was great to see so many tries, from all the teams.

A lot of games are won or lost on penalties now, it seems and it's always better viewing and more exciting when there are tries scored.

"Can i just point out, its not who scores the most tries that wins the game, its who scores the most points.

Anyone naive enough to think rugby is only about tries doesn't really understand rugby. "

Thanks for that! Of course it isn't just about tries, who was making that assertion? The simple fact though was that when you're trying to chase down a 28 point total do you attempt 10 penalties or kick to the corners and score 4 tries?

I totally agree Happiness, and the logic is perfect. I'm just pointing out to the people stating one team scored more tries that its unfair they didn't win. The dynamics to the game is far more than that.

But if was an absolute feast of rugby, my couch has a Jay shaped inprint in it from Saturday. Bring on the world cup.

I agree with you, modern international rugby is a territory game, the pressure is on the kickers to make penalties from the half way line and that's how games are won. That was why Saturdays games were so great as they were running the ball and retaining posession
